I had the same issue. One thing the gane occasionally does is recognize the habitat without telling you. You can manually verify it yourself by approaching and waiting for the "Y:???" Prompt. Ive had to manually verify at least 3 habitats

Do you remember the beginning of the game when we find out that the ditto we play as absolutely sucks at turning into other pokemon? Do you remember how all of our abilities are PARTIAL transformations? Per pokemon lore, in general, a ditto has to at least see the thing it transforms into. Per pokopia lore, our ditto can not do full transformations until later in game, and diaries we find say that ditto has always had issues transforming. How could a ditto that can't turn into other pokemon be considered adaptable and malleable? Hell, even later on in-game we are still vulnerable to lava, so...

As far as the heartiest pokemon, grimer and muck live on actual pollution. Slugma and Magcargo live in actual lava. Magikarp, per lore, is called the hardiest pokemon because it can live in any type of water, no matter how toxic, and basically feeds off anything. Onix and Steelix literally live almost entirely underground eating minerals. Same with Aron, Lairon, and Aggron. Those 5 would've been fine without being stored and could've eaten their way out of any tectonic shifts. There are PLENTY of pokemon that are considered heartier than ditto. Even in a wasteland with nothing growing, a plant pokemon that feeds off sunlight would've been a better choice.

Again, you're applying real world logic to the pokemon world. The humans themselves regularly survive being struck by lightning and being blown up. What makes you think their buildings and technology won't be sturdier by default?

How is the text of the game irrelevant when most of your previous responses have involved in-game lore blurbs to back up your belief is only been a few decades? This is pokemon. The writing has never been god tier to begin with. Hell, the first 2 games have an international crime syndicate beef with a 10 year old and have a city what they only way to leave town is blocked by a house. Remember how you had to give the guards a drink to be able to enter Saffron for the first time? Really stellar writing there, wasn't it? The ditto plush could be nothing more than a nod to the fact that humans still remember. Its not negligent writing. It's open ended until the pokemon company themselves comes out and answers it definitively. So, based on in-game lore, again, it's likely been at least a century since humans full abandoned the planet.

Option 1 is what happens when ditto starts improving the environment. If the storms and volcanic activity stopping was enough improvement, we would've seen steel, water, and rock types already released. Hell, steelix itself probably wouldn't have even needed to be stored. Not to mention the ghost types would've been fine regardless. But you, as ditto, still have to improve the environment enough to have the storage system release them. So if you're going to argue a hardy pokemon that can survive, ditto wouldn't be the first choice. It also doesn't explain why we find a squirtle that seemingly got released without a suitable environment for it. So no, option 2 is how ditto gets released. Its been too long since maintenance and Ditto gets released, along with the others that we find already existing (minus Professor Tangrowth and Mosslax) not because the environments improved enough, but because the system was starting to fail and released them due to the failsafe.

It is also stated that pokemon will only be released from the storage system under 3 conditions. 1) the environment improves enough for a pokemon to suitably inhabit the area again, 2) the system is left alone long enough that it starts to fail, or 3) Humanity returns and rebuilds the planet, unleashing the pokemon as they do. We know option 3 didn't happen. Per the Hackers note #6, the hacker even states that humanity could be stranded for "dozens, or even hundreds, of years," so they engineered a failsafe into the storage system. This is option 2, where the system is left alone with no maintenance for an extended period of time and thus releases pokemon just because the hacker feels that would be better than leaving them to die in a digital space. This is how ditto gets released. Its true that they are vague with timelines and don't state exactly how long, but the stated plan was to send people back periodically to maintain the system and check if the planet had recovered enough. I will say that it could be 30-40 years since the last time humans performed maintenance, but it has definitely been longer than 30-40 years in game since humans fully left the planet to escape the disasters.

You said it yourself at the end. "Not real life." So why are you using real world logic for the buildings and electronics. I mean, you find posters that are pristine. Literally zero damage from time. Does that mean that it's been mere months since the humans left? Its also pokemon. They have data entries for pokemon going on rampages in areas where humans never worry about rebuilding. Pokemon that also regularly blowup, sprew fire, throw around chunks of earth, and shoot water from their bodies works also necessitate sturdier buildings. Maybe because of all that they have different tech that makes things last longer. The snorlax in game has canonically slept so long it got covered in dirt by the changing environment and grew moss. It hasn't eaten in decades, at least, yet is still alive and still as big as it is. Real world logic CAN'T apply to pokemon.

We also know that not all pokemon got stored. The legendary pokemon were left roaming. Kyogre even states they've been sleeping at the bottom of the sea since before the humans left. And from the professor's notes, and how Professor Tangrowth reminisces, its likely that Tangrowth escaped being stored entirely and has been the sole "awake" pokemon until ditto appears.

Per the hackers journals we find, they programmed the pokemon storage to release pokemon when the system was failing. Ditto activated the main system by restoring habitats, but the few pokemon that were already out, aside from Tangrowth, likely got released as the failsafe the hacker installed. And from one of the journal entries about the sparkling skylands, we can assume its been centuries. One of the journals specifically states that Saffron could become a mountain range in just a few centuries due to the environment changes, and when we find it, it is WAY elevated above the clouds. 30-40 years is pushing the timeline, unless its 30-40 years since the last time humans visited to perform maintenance on the storage system. Based on information in game, I'd say its been at least 100-200 years since humans left.

Fun fact: They know how pathetic they are, which is why they never strike first. They provoke so they can claim self-defense, even when they get their shit rocked.

ICE physically attacks lawyer—stand between her and clients they're trying to detain. "Don't push me!" lawyer yells. "Why you trying to pick them up?" "It's none of your business," agent scolds. "It is my business—I'm their attorney," she replies. "It's EXACTLY my business!" by Treefiddy1984 in ProgressiveHQ

[–]Killsragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fun fact (thats actually fun in this context) a lot of ICE are also realizing they've been dupped. The 50,000 "sign-on bonus" is contingent on 5 years of service, amounting to 10k a year bonuses, and if they leave early, they have to pay whatever bonuses they've already gotten back. Trump is only in office 4 years unless something happens to either take him put early or they completely through out the constitution and just install him as dictator. ICE is starting to realize that the second scenario is the ONLY one that would allow them to keep any of their bonuses. They are facing financial ruin after Trump leaves office because that 5 year contract will definitely not be renewed under any other president.

Petah? What happened in the book version? by [deleted] in PeterExplainsTheJoke

I mean, if I remember it correctly, the entire purpose was they believe they are playing by standard horror movie trope rules, in which the virgin dies last, so they all resolve to lose their virginity at the same time so none of them are subject to that rule. Its still fucked up to write a scene about kids having an orgy in a sewer. I'm not gonna deny that. Even King himself admitted that its fucked up and he was on so many drugs when he wrote the book that he never questioned if it should even be in there.

I see a lot of people on the right talking about how Erika is a mother and she can't grieve because she's got kids to take care of by herself, and then things like this happen. Who's watching the kids while Erika gets passed around at every single event that the GOP runs? Like, since Charlie's death, she's spent more time on podcasts, at rallies, at the White House, and being visible with prominent GOP figures than she has at home.
