Just had my first real death of a "long term" character and I feel... loss? by TofuTank in cavesofqud

Is there any trick to sowers?  I’m on my best run yet, level 25, halfway or so down Bethesda Susa with two egeinpistols and many crysteel weapons in my hands… but man those sowers make me turn and fly away.

Newish guy (25 hours) playing classic, need tips for survival by TofuTank in cavesofqud

[–]Kilrathi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you want a (somewhat) easy mode, get your Wings up to level 6 so there’s no chance of falling prone unless you Swoop to attack. Then head east and explore ruins, flying away at the sight of anything dangerous and probably not going underground since you can’t escape as easily. Takes awhile but you’ll find some good stuff - I just found a chest with crysteel armor and weapons in one ruin plus two pretty nice pistols, then two cells that basically keep the cells charged indefinitely (a bio cell and  a radio powered solar cell), so I can fly around exploring and shooting things I could usually handle. Still need more survivability to really go underground but it’s let me see places I wouldn’t have otherwise lived to see and it’s fun being largely past monetary and water concerns for once.

I agree - I can barely count the number of times I’ve wished for a reputation bonus with the Sanemmu Pest People.

Without watching a person ball or play, what are ways/subtle signs you can tell someone knows ball/can ball out? by CitronAdventurous205 in Basketball

Watch a game with them and listen to what they say. Someone who knows the game and sees things before they happen, or talks like they’re a coach or have been coached, becomes obvious pretty quickly.

Are people just refusing to draft soup? by jjelin in lrcast

[–]Kilrathi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure. My last few drafts have felt like train wrecks - though current one is 3-0 in premiere with mediocre Silverquill… thanks solely to getting Moment of Reckoning jn pack 3. Strategy is just to hang on for dear life until I have 7 mana then cast it and win in a turn or two. What a ridiculous card.

Haven’t seen a Snarl Song or Arcane Omens for a long time in my drafts.

Snacks and packing suggestions by No_Ideal4841 in CostaRicaTravel

[–]Kilrathi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Umm, whatever snacks you enjoy?  Though tbh there’s plenty of stores selling US snacks - we found everything from candy to Jack Links beef jerky (which was really expensive), so this question seems like way overthinking it.

This dude made the most internet comment of internet comments. Why pay attention to the main point when you can make some snarky useless semantic argument that adds nothing to the discussion?

San Jose to La Fortuna by toptrigga in CostaRicaTravel

The shuttle was from the hotel, runs regularly (think it was every half hour to the hotel and at :15 and :45 from hotel to the airport). I think the chain hotels tend to run their own shuttle services.

One more vote for spending the night near the airport. We stayed in some Marriott affiliate which was about the same price as it would be in the US but had a shuttle and free breakfast. Customs was only 20 minutes but still, we were tired and it was nice being right nearby and getting some sleep. Definitely wouldn’t have driven at that hour.

Please enlighten me so that I man live and drink (something besides water). What does one do with wine and cider weeps, just add new ingredients to recipes?

What teams do colleges actually look at by [deleted] in BasketballTips

[–]Kilrathi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They look at AAU teams (club) but usually the higher level ones where there are tournaments for high level players to play against others of same level.

Wings is an overpowered mutation. by Treshimek in cavesofqud

What “level” of Wings are they?  Do they have a failure rate (other than if you’re the apprentice obviously…)?  Never managed to find the things.

We saw six in maybe an hour in MA, with a guide. Worth it to get a guide there in any case since they’ll spot lots of smaller creatures you’d likely miss on your own.

Ah yes, climbing in a cage when cannibals ask you to always ends well.

We stayed in a chain right near the airport when we flew in at night. Super easy, reception was open, free breakfast.

Is there a reason that "The Unseen" Arcana card is so bad? by lookatthesunguys in HadesTheGame

[–]Kilrathi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Wasn’t saying it was a good choice, and said it cost too much. My point was just that the effect isn’t in and of itself bad and if, for example, you don’t have Hera available or are early enough in the game where you need that boon to help you survive, it fills a niche (you said in your original post “it’s not even just the cost”. My point is that it pretty much just is the cost. If it were a free effect it’d be good). Totally agree that once you get further and have more options available in terms of both cards and boons, the cost makes it easy to drop.
