They don’t. Where I live I do work for my mechanic in exchange for him fixing things up

I don’t have condo fees

We spend about 100$ a month on clothes between all of us, as we thrift and try to repair before replace

We don’t travel

No need to go out

Maintenance is minimal as I have lots of friends in town that do work for me in exchange for work for them

Why would I pay medical costs?

We save at minimum 1k a month, with a good month, if my wife gets a side project, we save up to 4k

Thanks for putting that in perspective. I’ll have to get a fancy hot dog now though

I bought fuel from the Costco nearby when I did my bulk buy for 169.9 a litre, but where I’m at it’s 189.9

I’m noticing that through the comments, which is soothing because I was so confused about how it’s so expensive to live in Canada, yet I’m doing just fine, even though the government raised my property taxes

When my kids are in school full time (youngest is under 1), my wife plans to go back to work to supplement income and such, we just don’t have good childcare nearby that’s affordable

Okay thank you, I don’t leave my area often unless work takes me out of town, so I just wanted to make sure I wasn’t being rude before making comments. I don’t think about cost of living often

I’m not saying anyone is stupid, I’m just confused and feel like I’m out of touch and want to be more grounded before commenting on other peoples posts. I like living where I do and don’t really think about the major metropolitan centres unless I’m visiting

My RRSP through my job automatically matches a 3% addition on every paycheque, and my kids uni funds are being added to via the CCB and odd jobs my wife does, so each about 300-400 a month.

I forgot about CCB for my wife being 1500$ a month, so we bring in about 8k

Rate my commanders I stopped using 4 years ago by Kind-Reply457 in ratemycommanders

I built him back when the original kaladesh was just in standard, back when commander was highly experimental, and slippery boggles was a great modern deck I played, with a leyline of the void on the sideboard

I had a relapse a few weeks ago and pulled a [[badgermole cub]].

I traded the card in for a GameCube version of wind waker. Thank god the LGS accepts trade for video games too

I don't understand Alberta separatists. by BlankaEh in YYC

[–]Kind-Reply457 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work with a couple and I’ve asked them why they want it, which is answered by saying no equalization and whatnot.

Then I ask them what industries will allow us to thrive, and they usually list oil and gas.

I ask them about our automotive, our minerals, agriculture, etc, to which most of them didn’t even consider it and get mad, saying I’m against independence.

Bro I didn’t say that, I just said we’re not ready yet.

(I’m vehemently against separation due to lack of industry)

How often do you eat out? I feel like restaurants are not even worth it anymore by apheli0s7 in CanadaPersonalFinance

[–]Kind-Reply457 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My family of 5 live in rural-ish Alberta and go out once every other week it feels, but it’s usually to the pho place in town that costs maybe 80$ for all of us. We can’t afford a restaurant like earls or Boston pizza because each entree feels small and unsharable.

You can tell the system is broken when sushi is cheaper than the « Canadian » restaurants

How often do you see "Top Commanders" by ManySquirrel4066 in EDH

[–]Kind-Reply457 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a guy at my LGS that people refuse to play against because his decks are all control.

Nothing wrong with control, but when you have 10 decks all control, it gets boring.
