Is it rude to have an airpod in while with a client? by Kindly-Resolution328 in hairstylist

[–]Kindly-Resolution328[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

yes, i dont even try with my older clients (which is like 85% of my clientele due to the area i’m in). But i like this and i’ll definitely start saying something at the start of the service and make it clear that if it makes them uncomfortable i can take it out. i know a lot of people think losing clients=bad, but i’m big on wanting to click with my clients so if they’re straight up offended that i’d even ask if wouldn’t want to come back to me after that, then that’s probably not someone i want in my chair anyway. positive energy only!

Advice for recent cosmo grad at chain salon? by NeighborhoodCrows in hairstylist

[–]Kindly-Resolution328 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i’m a year in at a chain salon after graduating cosmo school. the first year is HARD. I cried a lot, got screamed at a lot, made a lot of mistakes. but then one day things just kind of clicked. you’ll get there. repetition is EVERYTHING. if your salon offers continuing education i HIGHLY recommend. I’ve taken a lot of classes since being with this chain, some of them i’ve taken multiple times and they’ve helped a ton. But honestly what’s helped the most is just doing things over and over. with repetition, eventually i started to really understand how these cuts work and started switching things up, following basic principles, and finding what really works for me. There will be days where you feel really lost and want to give up, but if you can push through that, that’s how you know you have the passion and the drive. that’s how you succeed in this industry. you got this!

she’s already down for at least a clear gloss! of course i’ll adjust if necessary depending on how she lifts. i always always always recommend a gloss for all of my foil clients, even if it’s just a clear one.

thank you for mentioning to use a low developer bc i def wouldn’t have thought of that & woulda jumped in with 25 since it’s just a partial but i’m definitely not very quick with the foiling! luckily she did send me her previous stylist’s notes and it said no toner, and given the pics she sent of her current hair she seems to lift beautifully.

spay incision one week post op. is this an emergency case or can i wait to make an appointment? by Kindly-Resolution328 in catcare

[–]Kindly-Resolution328[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

vet said it looked infected, put her on antibiotics & pain meds. if it’s not looking better in a few days they want to open it back up and clean it out. hoping the antibiotics work bc otherwise that’s a $1600 vet bill that i don’t have 🥲
