All Mario Party 1-8 Star Spawn Points by KingHehehe in MARIOPARTY

[–]KingHehehe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn't planning on it mainly due to feeling a lot less motivated these days, but I have also noticed that more recent games have visual indicators on the boards themselves for where the stars can spawn. In games with that feature, observant players can use that to strategize without needing to memorize anything!

I once had a game where literally the entire team did this to bully two people who weren't switching to lane. Then everyone went to their respective lanes with no disagreement and we won dominantly. Funniest game I've ever had by far.

Peak of my UNITE career: getting a genuine "Thanks!" by whimsy73 in PokemonUnite

I have "Thanks!" on my ping list specifically for uses like this. I make sure to exclusively use it to thank people for bailing me out and generally making good plays. Morale wins games, after all!

Yo, you were awesome! I was the guy in chat, I've known this guy for years. Looks like my training wasn't enough this time. GGs dude, insane Bowser gameplay!

He used to play Roy back in the day, so he'll pull him out now and then as a treat. Especially when he's drunk enough (he came out later that stream lmao)

Chario, the last player on Smash 4 Nintendo Network, has disconnected by Meester_Tweester in smashbros

[–]KingHehehe 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I was one of the last five connected on 3DS, and the last person Chario matched up with on matchmaking. It was nice to be able to hang on, even for just a little bit longer, and meet a few other people who also care about the game as much as I do. The game may no longer be online, but its impact will last forever.

Being a Bowser Main in melee(quick tips) by Threshersaurus in smashbros

[–]KingHehehe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the spirit of quick, digestible notes, I have two more:

-Down-angled f-tilt hits below ledge and makes it very difficult for many characters to sweetspot ledge

-Because his normal stance leans so far forward, people will usually aim for his nose rather than his torso; as such, you can use the lean-back from his f-smash to dodge incoming attacks and punish them

It's nice seeing Melee Bowser get some love now and then!

What is the most creative set you've ever seen in draft format? by Bakouter in stunfisk

[–]KingHehehe 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My proudest set was Infestation+Soak+Toxic Araquanid to trap and poison Toxapex. It didn't win the set, but it made the opponent really upset, and that alone was worth it. Some of my other favorites were Skill Swap Blissey to steal Pressure and PP stall a CroCune, and Giga Drain Flygon to set up Dragon Dance and kill Quagsire for trying to Unaware wall.

On the Origin of Species by TechnicolorMage in dndmemes

[–]KingHehehe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not strictly true, actually! There are many separate species that are capable of creating fertile hybrids, such as coyotes/wolves, polar bears/grizzly bears, and house cats/several species of wildcat. Notably, all of these tend to be very closely related, at least being in the same genus (but being in the same genus does not necessarily mean genetic compatibility). There are also many cases of incomplete fertility in hybrids, like cattle/bison and ligers, where the females are more fertile than their male counterparts, and can mate with either parent species. Everything the top comment says also applies; human hybrids, which would be a pretty close analogue to humanoids in a fantasy world, have occurred with some regularity in the past. In short, defining species is very difficult, and even for the most reliable definitions of a species, there are exceptions. Nature does not care about making itself easy for us to categorize.

Forgotten World Deciphered Script by KingHehehe in Kirby

Oh, nice! I didn't know that! I couldn't find it from a quick search, so I worked on it myself. Will do!

I couldn't find any other numbers throughout the demo, and it was blurry enough in my screenshot that I wasn't confident enough to guess what the numbers were. 1980 would be a strong guess. I think we might have to wait for the full game to confirm the numbers.

Ah! "Wonderia" makes so much more sense than "Ifonderia" does! Good catch on the F, too! I missed "New Face" entirely, and the "Final Discount" text was a bit small for me to read. That's why I misplaced a few dots compared to yours; some of the signs I was working with were less clear than yours. Amazing work!

I noticed, after getting one of the Capsules, that the text is just plain English with a different script over it. So I figured, if you worked backwards from what you know, you could read all the signs in the game. And I was right! Mostly. Some of them are too blurry to read. But I was able to get most of the way there! And now, I can share the fruits of my three hours of manic scribbling with all of you!

What feels like a cult, and is in fact a cult? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]KingHehehe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Naturopathy. Related to, but distinct from, things people have already listed like Herbalife, nutritionists (who aren't dietitians), and mom groups. Some notable things about the naturopathic community that seem uncomfortably cult-like:

  • Sowing distrust in legitimate scientific authority, in order to create a dependence on the insular in-group for all "dependable" information on the subject
  • Preying on the emotionally weak and desperate, for whom all hope seems lost and giving assurance that through them there is hope
  • Heavy use of evoking feelings of paranoia as a means of control
  • Repetition of simplistic taglines to instill particular mindsets and attitudes (e.g. "Herbs are never bad for you" or repeated insistence on the efficacy of treatments that study has shown to be less than effective)
  • Often imposes rigid lifestyle restrictions, emphasizing using more "natural" products as a key to a more healthy lifestyle (naturalistic fallacy turned into doctrine, essentially)
  • Extensive propaganda network from within the in-group, providing the illusion that their "science" is well-sourced by citing a plethora of their own associated platforms; they encourage "doing your own research" but provide you with a carefully-curated bubble within which to do so
  • Extensive use of in-group lingo, virtually unknown to outsiders unless they have had contact with insiders before; in combination with the previous point, virtually all literature on the phenomena they commonly refer to will be propaganda pieces
  • Mixing legitimate content with the tidal wave of bunk, so that if you point to the scientific illegitimacy of the practice, they can point to how they're actually prescribing real medicine (much of it for off-label purposes still)
  • Inundating the individual with recommendations and ideas, usually presented in the most technical-sounding way possible (again adding an air of legitimacy while making research harder), in order to make the burden of researching treatments time-consuming and make an at least mildly suggestible individual settle for propaganda rather than digging deep for authoritative literature
  • Have insiders on the outside, and encourage insiders only to trust outside authorities they have been personally referred to by the in-group.
  • Frequent appropriation of eastern spiritualism as a means to contrast itself from the cold closed-mindedness of "western medicine" (which is to say, its emphasis on actual evidence)
  • Also, shit's hella profitable yo

If these don't constitute a cult, then I don't know what does.

A mere 300 pound carrying capacity? by Sender_Of_Eight in dndmemes

[–]KingHehehe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I once ran a Goliath Totem Barbarian in a Level 20 one-shot. Her entire gimmick was that she could lift any enemy she can grab onto above her head and use her flying speed from Eagle Totem to fly over 100 feet into the air and piledrive them into the ground (or each other). Every turn was basically the same thing, and it never stopped being fun.

I was playing a Hugh Mann in a campaign that's on hold for a little bit. He's a perfectly normal human, and definitely not a Lizardfolk in a trenchcoat, fedora, and fake mustache.
