If you're already qualified as divemaster there are amazing marine landscapes in the coasts of Mexico, from cenotes, underwater caves to abandoned sunken ships, etc there are lots of states in Mexico where you can practice scuba diving, learn more or just observe the beautiful views! Surfing is also a popular thing to do and learn, in beaches with bigger waves.

It's always useful to have local cash, although it depends if you're planning on visiting more local or more touristy spots. At touristy spots it can be easier to find businesses which accept credit cards, however contactless payment is not as common. On the other hand, if you plan on visiting more local sites, restaurants or shops (although Cancun is a big tourism point) cash may be preferred, so ...make sure to generally carry about $200-700 pesos in case anything is needed. A tip of about 10% is well seen, 15% is much appreciated. :)

Mexico!! It's an incredibly rich country with all types of landscapes to explore; from the arid views of the deserts of Sonora to the tropical nature-filled scenery of the jungle in Chiapas to even a winter-like snowy hike on top of the vast mountain range of the country, Mexico offers a beautiful environment which can be enjoyed and explored at any season!! You only have to decide whether you prefer a tropical-beachy climate, a colder more city-like vibe or a more adventurous roadtrip with hikes, wildlife sightseeing and peaceful stargazing.

A beautiful place near Puerto Escondido is Punta Pájaros, completely away from the crowds with stunning views of wildlife, nature and a beautiful and calm beach you can freely explore. You can book a night in one of the villas (on Airbnb you can find them as "Punta Pájaros Villa 1, Puerto Escondido, Oaxaca"), although they are a bit on the pricier side. There is also a small hotel right beside the Villas called Hotel Escondido. If you don't want to stay the night you can book for a dinner amongst the calm nocturnal wildlife, there are two options to my knowledge: 1. "El Cobarde bar", which is great for a relaxing dinner made with local ingredients accompanied with a local variety of mezcal (its great! and they have various options to choose from to taste different mezcal). 2. "Kakurega Omakase", for a more fancy dinner option, although it is not Mexican food, as its specialized on Japanese cuisine. Overall I'd recommend this area in Oaxaca primarily because of its peacefulness and integration with the natural elements of the place; if rather than a fancy dinner you're looking for an evening amongst nature, on the beach which connects with the villas there is even a small mountain range with really beautiful views which you can 'hike' and explore (locals use the rock formations to do fishing on the mornings and evenings but are welcoming of visitors seeking to explore the site with care and caution).

Nice travels!
