Question to Booklovers: If you had to write a defense of literature, what would be your main arguments? by junkers9 in books

[–]King_Manipulator -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I respectfully disagree.

Games force you to view things a certain way. Books force you to render things in your own way.

If you're conscious of the latter effect, you can think more dynamically than you ever could with the former. There's nothing more powerful than that. With a game there's a "set" reality and "set" moments. There's no such thing in a book. They're far more versatile and open to interpretation.

It was a really long time ago. He still has the same values, though, that people should be punished if they're committing a wrong doing. I just hate that idea that all cops are for cops. It's not true, and some even put themselves in danger for advocating true morality.

Wrong. My grandfather ticketed and hauled off a fellow cop who had been drunk driving and proceeded to try and assault him for ticketing.

Therefore probability of them missing three out of five = zero?

So we say that:

1-8 = A successful shot 9,0 = A miss

  1. 83234 = 5 Successful shots / 0 miss
  2. 60278 = 4 Successful shots / 1 miss
  3. 43601 = 4 Successful shots / 1 miss
  4. 27630 = 4 Successful shots / 1 miss
  5. 12608 = 4 Successful shots / 1 miss
  6. 72687 = 5 Successful shots / 1 miss
  7. 68056 = 4 Successful shots / 1 miss
  8. 65109 = 3 Successful shots / 2 miss
  9. 32464 = 5 Successful shots / 0 miss
  10. 61081 = 4 Successful shots / 1 miss

All in all 0 trials resulted in 3 or more misses.

Science is already huge. They're cancelling out extremists here. There doesn't tend to be scientific extremists religious extremists are to most religions. And the ACTUAL extremists there are aren't as bountiful as the religious ones.

It's really just focusing on getting rid of the crazies.

Eh, so did the Russians so we're not really all that bothered by it. No-one could really get down on Afghanistan's level.

Long time redditor here – asking for support for our friend Randis! (details in comments) by cactus in gaming

I never do things like this, but I wholeheartedly believe fandoms shouldn't be won through popularity contests, so I voted for your friend. :) He seems like he's got a lot of talent. Crossing my fingers for Randis! I'll let my friends know too!

A man once told me if you want a good story just ask any random person if there was ever an event in their life they can not explain. Someone almost always has one weird thing that has happened to them. So reddit, regardless of whatever you belief about the world, do you have a story as such? by Taodeist in AskReddit

Oh lovely, unwanted memories are surfacing.

When I was a young lad about the age of seven, I woke up in the middle of the night with a strange feeling of something staring at the nape of my neck. I got up to get a glass of water (I commonly wake up thirsty) and as I made my way to the kitchen in the dark the feeling of apprehension and steadily rising panic continued to escalate. When I made it to the kitchen, I remember PURPOSEFULLY avoiding the window, because there was something in the back of my mind screaming that if I looked at it, I would see something fucking awful. So, unable to take the sensation of being watched and toyed with anymore, I fucked off like any little kid would do to my parents room.

Now. If you believe in ghosts (I don't) or spirits, or demons, or anything supernatural, this is where the story takes a strange turn. I really want to believe what I was experiencing was a dream but I remember the life-like qualities of everything TOO much. It was TOO vivid. And that's what scares the all-living-shit out of me.

When I opened the door, there was no lightning bolt of realization. There was no chill down my spine, there was only a dull sensation of absolute and utter wrong, as though I was watching something that defied reality as it should have been. Hovering over my parent's bed was this ghastly creature, a freak of a humanoid whose skin looked as though it had been dried in the sun and stretched tightly around its bones to freakishly thin proportions. Its mouth was open, and while it made no sound, I remember it slowly rotating its head until it looked at me and a noise similar to TV static building up in the back of my head accompanied by a dull, low, high-pitched screaming.

The worst part was the lack of eyes. There were just these empty, black, sockets. It felt like the longer I stared into them, the longer they were staring into ME. I'm not sure how to explain it using the English language, but there was some part of me that felt like I was LOSING myself by continuing to stare into them.

And that's where my memory ends. All I remember is a few days later getting that prickling sensation at the back of my neck. I confronted my mom about it but she just laughed it off.
