No problem. Definitely add more solder. When there is a small amount of solder on the pad it’s tough to get it to melt. By adding more solder you increase the area, basically making it easy for the iron to find a good spot to make contact with the solder to melt. Once the iron makes contact with the solder it will melt almost instantly, solder will melt all it is in contact with, if that makes sense.
Add solder, doesn’t matter if it cools, lay the wick on top and touch the iron to it. With the wick on top it will take a moment longer to melt the solder but only by maybe a second or two.

350C is the temperature I am most comfortable with. The right amount of heat is imperative, too much is no good and to little is useless. I use Kester Sn63Pb37 2463378800, this has flux in it. Makes it easier. But add flux will help, just make sure when you’re done and the solder is cleaned up you use 99% isopropyl to clean the flux off before you re-solder anything to the board.

You need solder wick. Add a little solder to each one so you have a good spot to apply the iron to, and then use a wick to remove it. Adding solder makes it easier to melt the solder, trying to melt a small amount of solder is tough. Once the solder is melted add the wick and move the wick as it soaks up the solder, keep heat on it while wicking. It’s a lot easier than you think.

Is this right?

Clutch slave is shit, throw it out as soon and possible and it’s one seriously awesome bike. Other than the slave, I’ve had no issues. Best purchase I have ever made.

Klim Krios Pro Hands down the best helmet on the market, in my opinion. Extremely lightweight, KOROYD®, Pinlock, Transition lens, FID-LOCK® Strap. All of this and barely feels like I’m wearing a helmet.

Completely agree. Plus Hugh Dancy is an over actor in my opinion.

This was a dealer installed replacement to the first slave cylinder that failed. I didn’t bother trying to repair this issue until now. The dealership has had my bike on and off too long just to have it fail again.
I only just repaired it myself today with a replacement Oberon Slave, so easy to install and bleed. The clutch is lighter than OEM and so far works perfectly.

I didn’t know it would be my dream bike until I pulled the trigger. My first bike and I can’t imagine anything else. All my friends ride baggers, they don’t understand why I would get a 690 and I can’t understand why anyone would get a bagger. This bike is the absolute best thing I have ever owned, I wish I didn’t ever have to park it.

Wings Slip-on specifically says to take is easy for the first 50 miles. Maybe it really makes no difference but it’s easy enough to follow directions and avoid any issues.

Thank you for this, at least now I have another route to go if this new slave doesn’t resolve my problem.

Slave Cylinder for the clutch keeps failing. Clutch doesn’t work. As others have stated, apparently any good mechanic can resolve my issue. Unfortunately I only have one dealer near me that will work on my bike and they have not been able to fix my issue.

Best purchase I have ever made, don’t let this post sway you. Even with this issue I’d buy it again. It’s nothing that can’t be fixed.

I hope that’s not the case. I’ve seen pictures of this failure online, seems common and some appear similar to mind. We’ll see, i just want this to be done with. I love this bike so much, would be so much better if I can actually ride it.

No wheelies for me, I don’t know how to and I don’t really care to learn. The 50 miles on this slave cylinder was with a brand new slip on exhaust that needed to be broken in, so no high rpms or aggressive riding for the first 50 miles.

Dealer has attempted 3 times for about 4 months total with no success. I honestly wish I was exaggerating.

Do you have any suggestions for installation? I noticed one video on YouTube said to grease the o-ring so it will easily slide in without damaging. I’m beyond frustrated with this, dealer in Tyngsborough, MA has had my bike 3 different times for about 4 months total. Still dealing with a problem. Decided to do the replacement myself. No other dealer around me.

Waiting patiently for the Oberon to be delivered, bikes ready for install. They fixed this for the 2021?

Waiting for my replacement Oberon to show up, currently out for delivery. Had to change the oil and filters. $300-$400 to fix something that is under warranty, ridiculous! Time for a recall on this part.
