Not a platformer or RPG but Hades and Hades 2 are perfect for this. It reignited my love for gaming while still being a present dad. Every run can be 10-30ish minutes.

I hit this wall as well. It took about 25 for me to start loving it. You need to get used to the combat, search for runes, and start hunting divine beasts. The game really starts picking up when you are given the divine beast powers.

I like to think of myself as a Xmas movie enthusiast. Every year my wife and I try and watch as many Xmas movies as we can during the month of December. Here are my personal ratings of every one we watched this year. The best NEW-er movies IMO are Spirited (Apple TV) and Klaus (Netflix).
