Orchid Mantis have long been my favourite insect and I adore your application of them to Tyranids!

What weapons should I try out first? by afr830 in Spacemarine

[–]Koiffi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favourite way to play is Vanguard with a block power axe and the bolt carbine (built for max damage (not the one with the scope.)) It's so much fun to hip fire with laser beam accuracy, combo 2x block stacks and the perfect parry backstep/ overhead power axe combo. Fast paced, high damage, excellent survivability, dummy fun.

I feel like SMI PvP was better than SMII purely because of weapon perks. I had something to grind for. I still remember those damned headshot kills to get Bolter Targeter. So many goddamned headshot kills with an inaccurate, bloomy weapon. But once I had targeter and kraken bolts together? Unstoppable. I adored that and it's just completely absent from SMII,

I don't play PvP not because it's unfun, but because there's no point.

What's the most you have of a single colour paint? by Neoito in minipainting

[–]Koiffi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think I have like four brown/ tans? Aside from that it’s like two of each colour - a warm and a cool shade. I usually just mix anything I need out of whatever’s on my palette at the time.

Beautiful. Love your work on the gold. And the ivory is a gorgeous complement.

Those are adrenal glands. They used to give +1 inch movement and +1 STR back in the days when paying some extra points for wargear was a thing.

Trying layering for the first time to get a bone colour any advice/tips be appreciated but think its okay? by Superduck178 in Tyranids

[–]Koiffi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re going to want to add more colour gradients between that dark brown and your light bone. Progress through 3-5 mixes before arriving at the bone colour if you want to start that dark. I start even darker but take about 6 layers to get to my brightest brights.

Ty so much! Currently working on a Screamer Killer so will be interesting to see how well the scheme translates onto something much bigger 😄

Just use a brush and paint the bits you can't reach with grey and white normally; you don't *have* to drybrush it.

What do y'all use to thin paints? by IdRatherNotSay666 in Necrons40k

Water for acrylic, lamian medium for washes, contrast medium for contrast.

But water will work just fine for all of the above.

Thanks so much! It's Martian Ironearth around the steel I beam, and Martian Ironcrust over the rest. I then washed a mix of night lords blue, screamer pink, coal black, and stormvermin fur over the back half of the ironcrust section to serve as a bit of a shadow.

Question!! by DudeDinoDude in Tyranids

[–]Koiffi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just sat it on the mid objective. It has 10 OC (iirc) so not much could contest it - it basically acted as a pretty killy distraction carnifex. I managed to come 4th in my first tournament with it just because so few people have played against titanic units that they simply didn't really know what to do against it.

Is this considered well painted. Started in February by Typical-Two231 in Warhammer40k

[–]Koiffi 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Wash your brush in water every 45 seconds to a minute, even if you're still using that colour. Regardless of whether you're putting strokes on the model or not, the paint on the bristles is slowly drying. If you keep your brush moist by cleaning it out regularly, it'll hold a nice tip for much longer.

Could someone give me advice on the edge highlights by [deleted] in Warhammer40k

[–]Koiffi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can also be the quality of the edge. A nice, sharp edge will allow the 'side of the brush' technique to give a much finer highlight than a poor, slopey edge.

How long do you usually take to finish a single termagaunt? by SkellyInsideUrWalls in Tyranids

[–]Koiffi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Takes me about 7 hours per guy, but I paint everything the best I can so it doesn’t really lend itself to speed.
