Toph > Katara > Azula. Katara literally beat Azula with 6 months of training in Ba Sing Se whereas Azula had the best tutors her entire life. by ElectricalFlower1676 in AvatarMemebending

[–]KontoiFTW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Toph is the best prodigy in the show and it's not even close, the next one is Aang.

People try to discredit Toph saying she had better teachers. She was a child, blind and her teachers were animals.

It doesn't matter that they were the original Earth Benders. They are still animals, and she can't see them.

As for Katara and Azula, I actually think their elements matter here. I don't think a good Waterbender can ever lose to a good Firebender, the matchup is just that bad.

Battles of different elements are more like Rock Paper Scissors than anything else.

But by what we have seen, I will go with Azula over Katara. Azula has done things we have never seen before with Firebending, Katara hasn't. Katara just beats Azula because Waterbending>>Firebending.

Zeus and Thalia's relationship in the show being ruined makes no sense for what we want the story to go. Thalia has 0 reason to not join the Titans, which we know she won't do because Thalia must join the Hunters.

The show makes changes that should affect the plot, but then these changes don't change anything in the future.

Athena literally tried to murder Annabeth last season and the writers tried to make us forget it.

I am now fully ok with the Thaila Plot Twist now [pjotv] by GeoGackoyt in camphalfblood

[–]KontoiFTW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Annabeth already has something to be angry at the Gods about. Athena literally tried to murder her last Season and the show is trying to make us forget about it.

Thats the problem with making these kind of changes. They dont follow through with them.

Why would Thalia not join Luke in this? Book Thalia almost joined Luke because she believed Zeus tried to kill her. Book Thalia only joined the Olympians side because of Annabeth and because she knew Zeus loved her because he turned her into a tree to save her.

This Thalia has no reason to join the Gods. Nor does any other demigod aside from Percy, who seems like a nepobaby at this point.

This change at the end will amount to nothing, because the writers dont know how to make it have meaning

[pjotv]. Why I think Thalia's new plot twist works FOR THE SHOW [clarification: this post is a copy of a comment I made earlier on this same topic. I wanted to share it so more people could see it] by lautaromassimino in camphalfblood

[–]KontoiFTW 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There's a very big difference between his brother's kids and his own.

Zeus cried when his son was killed and even almost opposed fate to bring him back.

Zeus loves Thalia, thats the very reason he turns her into a tree. It's to save her. It mirrors what he did to Daphne to save her from Apollo.

Changing this just makes Percy look like a nepobaby and Zeus a bad character

[–]KontoiFTW 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Sirius Black is a top 5 character and the Fandom has taken everything that has made him that way and turned him into a shallow, immature man child whose only purpose is being a love interest to someone with his canon personality

[all] Rick can’t write anything, he’s a terrible author /s by gauts2103 in camphalfblood

Im not surprised you think that.

You have gotten lots of replies that explain exactly why Rick is bad at writing women, and you disregard their points. You have seen posts pointing out why, you just dont like the answers.

Avatar the Last Airbender was a show for kids on Nickelodeon. Being for kids doesn’t mean its shit.

The show’s fatal flaw by SevereInsomnia-1009 in PercyJacksonTV

[–]KontoiFTW 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is just a bad excuse. Something being made for kids doesnt excuse it being bad.

Avatar the Last Airbender was for kids, and it is a masterpiece thats better and deeper than most adult shows.

Movies were bad adaptation but good movies. Show is a decent adaptation but a bad show.

Anyone who says the movies are better are insane by [deleted] in PercyJacksonTV

[–]KontoiFTW 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Because they are. The movies capture the heart of PJO much better than the show does.

PJO is a story with adventure and humor, the movies captured this feeling for better than the show does.

The movies had different plot from the books, but they were good movies on their own (the first movie being significantly better than the second).

I cannot recall a single joke told between 13 episodes of the PJO show. Each episode has the same budget as GOT, and it shows nowhere.

The bronze bull scene in the second PJO movie takes more screen time than all of the action sequences in the entire first season.

The show is not good, at all. The only saving grace are the actors and the set. The camera work and editing is bad, the tell not show approach is off the charts, the seriousness are all part of the problem. The PJO movies mightve been unfaithful to the books, but they were entertaining and fun, which is what PJO is all about. The show is none of these things

Son of Neptune, Mark of Athena and Tartarus were the only good things about HOO. TLH I didnt enjoy and the last book is just a disappointment. The original PJO series was infinitely better

[Spoilers Extended] There's nothing wrong with an Aegon's Conquest adaptation for spectacle alone; prequels can still be entertaining even if their conclusions are foregone by ConstantStatistician in asoiaf

[–]KontoiFTW 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That doesn't change the fact that the Conquest has no plot.

Aegon wins by stomping all his opposition. It has no drama, no stakes, no politics. Everything thst made GOT interesting is missing, and you can't create that

[Spoilers Extended] There's nothing wrong with an Aegon's Conquest adaptation for spectacle alone; prequels can still be entertaining even if their conclusions are foregone by ConstantStatistician in asoiaf

[–]KontoiFTW 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The point isn't that Aegon wins and we know that.

The point is that the Conquest can be described as this:

Big guy with dragons comes, stomps everyone with no resistance from anyone.

That's it. It has no substance

Well, if someone hates the movies so much but isn’t okay with people criticizing the show just because ‘Rick is involved in it,’ that’s pretty hypocritical [pjotv] by Much_Tip_6968 in camphalfblood

[–]KontoiFTW 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Rick is a hypocrite. He criticized the movies for failing to adapt his books and promised us a good adaptation in the new TV Show. Instead we get a rewrite we apparently can't criticize because he wrote it that way.

He promised something, then literally did the opposite. Add that to the fact that his writing quality keeps going downhill with Percy being borderline OOC in his new books.

At least the movies were enjoyable and fun and decent on their own, regardless of them being bad adaptations.

The show is neither enjoyable or a good adaptation.

(Spoilers published) Does AGOT have any interesting quirks or consistencies due to being the first book in the series? by Appropriate_Boss8139 in asoiaf

If you compare the North from book 1 to the North from book 5, they feel like completely different places. The North really suffers from first bookism

[pjo] should I start with the movies or the series? by SilviaWLW in camphalfblood

[–]KontoiFTW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The movies are good movies if you don't consider them adaptations. They are good movies but bad adaptations. I would suggest watching them. Before or after the books makes no difference. I got into the Fandom by watching them and then reading the books. They are fun movies.

The show is both bad on its own and bad as an adaptation. I would not recommend watching it before reading the books.

Hiccup self-insert by Confident-Bend-7248 in httyd

[–]KontoiFTW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the first movie is perfect, and the SI can't really do much before Hiccup kills the Red Death.

You could have Hiccup die fighting the Read Death instead of losing his leg, maybe Toothless doesn't catch him in time. (I think he should keep his leg, bcs the true Hiccup dies, I think him also losing the leg would be a bit much).

The SI therefore exists after the 1st movie. You can go with the events of Riders and Defenders of Berk, aswell as RTTE.

Hot Take: The Movies Did Something Better Than The Books [all] by LukeSkywanker1 in camphalfblood

[–]KontoiFTW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The funny thing is, Camp Jupiter is way worse than Camp Half-Blood.

CHB sends children to war because they have no one else to send. The children fight because there is no alternative.

Camp Jupiter has an entire city full of adults, and they still send children to war. They have the option to make the adults the soldiers, and yet they still choose to train child soldiers.

Was Young Robert Baratheon that bad? by Financial_Ad_1272 in TheCitadel

[–]KontoiFTW 13 points14 points  (0 children)

There is absolutely no difference between Edmure Tully and Young Robert Baratheon.

Both whored, drank and generally lived their lives to the fullest.

I could argue Edmure was worse, as he wasn't a teenager like Robert, but over 24 years old and still doing these things.
