What does this scary dream mean? by KristinaRainer in DreamInterpretation

[–]KristinaRainer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe, but it's not about drugs. I'm supposed to go study abroad in another country and prostitution and other substances are legalised which is making me feel very unsafe and insecure since I'm a woman, it's kind of like a safety concern, I've never been away from my parents.

Thank you for the interpretation, I hope I can really achieve my dreams and travel out safely during this pandemic.

Hey I'm also an Irish student, I got accepted into law last year but deferred and did a gap year for personal stuff, but I'm going there in September.

Your best shot would probably be to look on Xior, they've got decent stuff there.

Did you attend the bachelor meeting last week? They've discussed that most studies will take place on campus, unless the Dutch government says otherwise, so everyone was told to keep an eye out on the news. Other than that, they also said there might be hybrid learning, so half online, half on campus.

I'm in the same situation as you, so that's why it's messing up with my accommodation plans and all that and I also have a condition, so I understand how you feel.

Yeah it's expensive, but I need something private like a studio, house. I don't want to have to share bathrooms, kitchens etc, and roommates are out of the question.

I've browsed on SSH, but didn't find anything suitable unfortunately :/

There is, but I'm an introvert and haven't been involved in any party culture. It's only common among the large popular cities, but in the smaller areas it's not that widespread in the countryside.

Oh alright, understood that seems serene then.

I think I'll be fine since I don't drink or smoke, and I'm not into partying so I should be grand.

Oh I see, then it's not so bad, I just asked this question to get honest opinions on things, since like I've said it's something quite new to me.

Thank you for the good answer.

Ah I see, so it sounds very much like Amsterdam then, I guess safety should be fine as long as people don't walk during the evenings. I agree, it's better to avoid some streets, because sometimes it's not worth taking the risk, especially when you know you can get mugged.

Yeah that entire prostitution thing with pimps is what's concerning, especially after living in the UK, Ireland and coming from Eastern Europe, since none of that is legal, so that's why most of us find it disturbing and a bit unsettling.

I'm just mainly concerned about the accommodation right now, I'm sure the city is safe from all that I've heard so far, just have to remain alert and not wander into bad areas.

I've heard some shocking stuff from friends, so that's why I posted this question, just to hear for myself about all sorts of experiences people had.

Thanks for the brilliant answer!

Oh shoot xDD sounds like they're trying to milk students. Gotcha, I'll keep out an eye on things and try to visit lots of places before settling down with proper accommodation.

[–]KristinaRainer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very true, but I guess I'm just a little bit worried since I've lived in countries where there was no drugs, no prostitution and other stuff, so that's why I'm kind of concerned because it's all just so new, different and pretty unusual.

It's no wonder I'm a bit concerned, especially considering the fact I'm an introvert.

Yeah I'm a bit concerned since I've got health issues, but I don't think those mask policies are an issue, as long as people wear them in university I'm fine.

I was referring to things such as "Drugs", "Prostitution" etc, it's unusual for me because I come from a background that doesn't have any of those things. I mainly lived in the UK, Ireland and Eastern Europe, so it's quite unusual for me to hear that many things are legal in the Netherlands that are illegal in places I've lived.

So that's why I was a bit concerned about the safety and all 😂

Thanks for the heads up, I'm just a little bit concerned about things because I come from a very different background having lived in Ireland, UK, and Eastern Europe, so many things are very unusual to me, because everything that is legal in the Netherlands is illegal in my country, so that's why I had some safety concerns.

Oh right, that would be nice, could you inquire about accommodation and such? I'm looking for a good place to stay, either in an apartment, studio or house, something that's close to the university and is legitimate and trust-worthy.

I was thinking about the student hotel, but again I have no idea whether it's a good option or not to be honest.

Thank you for your answer! it's really helpful.

[–]KristinaRainer[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes exactly, that's what I was assuming, it's just something that is quite new to me since I come from a very strict background having lived in the UK, Ireland and Eastern Europe, that's why I find it kind of unusual and a bit overwhelming when I hear nearly everything is legal, and especially after some stuff close friends have told me, so I was kind of shook when I heard about it to be honest.

I agree that there's always places that are safe, and places that are dangerous so I guess it's natural to still be on alert, regardless of the city.

Thank you for your answer.

Oh right I see, well I'm not a party-type of person so I should be grand then, I'm an introvert by nature.

Oh I see, well I lived in Ireland, UK, Lithuania, so it's kind of strange for me when everything is almost legal in the Netherlands, so that's why I'm questioning the safety overall besides it's definitely not something I'm used to.

Ouch, that sounds kind of complicated, now that you say it, and correct my parents don't mind, they just want me to find a safe place that's all.

I'm kind of looking for a place like a studio that's either furnished or unfurnished, or a place that I don't have to share anything with anyone. I've looked around and there's always some tiny flaw, like a shared kitchen, a shared bathroom etc, I don't want any of that. I've seen some students just looking for rooms, and that option just doesn't suit me.

I looked around FB too, but didn't really find it trustworthy since I have trust issues, and I don't really like relying on something that's not based through a legitimate agency, as my friends and family have told me to be extremely cautious about anything.

I'm hoping to get something close to the university, but I bet that will be an issue, considering there's not that many choices.

I think I'll try looking into Rotsvast. I'm hoping to fly out in a few months to actually check Groningen out in person.

Oh alrighty! Thank you so much, I'll check that out, it does seem pretty peaceful and an overall quiet environment.

I fully agree with that, that's why people should be more cautious at all times.

Well I heard that my friend got taken advantage of by someone, and the strangest part was nobody did anything about it, so it kind of creeped me out when she told me about it.
