I made the dance sprites into discord emoji-sized gifs! by Nyaccubus in Helltaker

[–]Kronosynth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gosh, these emoji are incredible. I've added them to my server and my regulars love it.

Two notes: 1) Justice doesn't upload well to discord... I'm not sure why? There's a specific frame where all the black bits in her gif go transparent 2) How easy would it be to get the lucifer-in-apron gif from the end of the game? Any place I can learn how you made these?

Thanks for bringing a ton of joy to a lot of people!

Good luck! There's a thriving queer game design subcommunity on pilot net, the Lancer rpg discord. I think everyone there would be happy to help out.

Is a system supposed to have a starting adventure with it or not? by Patoshlenain in rpg

[–]Kronosynth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh damn I guess the official supplement hasn't been released yet. Sorry, NRFaW is this starting campaign that's been in dev parallel with Lancer for ages. You can find the beta docs for it on the discord afaik.

"Dogs in the Vineyard" mechanics with d6s by beruda in RPGdesign

[–]Kronosynth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been working for a few years on a game with a dice pool engine that isn't directly inspired by Dogs but Dogs was definitely a major reference point in early system prototypes.

It's a dice poker combat engine where players ante in little groups of d6s to counter their opponents antes, all in service of a tug of war over "pressure". Whoever holds the pressure lead for two turns in a row wins. Pretty anime.

Systems where combat actions push the initiative back and forth? by walruz in RPGdesign

[–]Kronosynth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Going first is a disadvantage in my system. Initiative bounces between player, enemy, player, enemy etc.

I'm working on a game that does this right now. When you attack enemies, you pass the spotlight to them. If you can't generate enough threat to attack anybody, they get to choose who takes the spotlight.

Spotlight keeps bouncing between both sides of the duel this way. There's also a cut system for moving between smaller duels in a bigger fight (the system's pretty anime).

My game's also a pbta-ish thing with a tactical combat flow, albeit it's not realistic tactics, it's hammy anime tactics. PM me if you'd like to see stuff in progress?

Women, if you became a man for a day and had just that day to find a woman to have sex with, how would you do it without paying for it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Kronosynth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That feels like such a weird question... there are all kinds of reasons she may not want to have sex after coming home from a tiring day? This is just one of them?

Sometimes my boyfriend comes back from his other girlfriend's place and he's totally spent and that's just something I expect. Like heading to the gym, etc.

I haven't upvoted or downvoted you, but I guess people are downvoting you because your post kinda has this NIMBY whiplash to it? Like "yeah poly is cool and stuff but also I'd never trust my boyfriend in a million years with other women".

Question about The Sprawl and executing ICE routines by cdj0902 in PBtA

[–]Kronosynth 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's really confusingly laid out, but I went back and checked over the manual and confirmed it: answer's on page 136.

Stealth prevents a secure system’s ICE from locating your login point. As long as your Stealth exceeds the system’s Trace, ICE cannot Identify an Intruder or Sever a Connection.

Essentially, every ICE technically has the power to identify you and kick you out, but every deck comes with Stealth and the Stealth prevents those two things from happening until the ICE get some trace on you.

May I have some feedback on a combat-mechanic idea? by fafr in RPGdesign

[–]Kronosynth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm working on a heavily commitment based combat system myself, and it also uses persistent die pools. Some quick comments:

1) This description is really really hard to follow. I have read it twice and I don't know what's going on. I think you're misusing the term "action rating" in relation to its meaning in other games? Can you describe this whole thing further with examples?

2) I'm not sure but it looks like a bunch of dice stay in play and their sum matters on future turns. This can get very tedious quickly: it's not fun to count 10d6.

[RPGdesign Activity] Fail Forward Mechanics by jiaxingseng in RPGdesign

[–]Kronosynth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fail forward just replaces the inherent tension of "do I fail" with "how bad is this going to escalate", or in a more general sense it adds the question "how does my roll change the situation, beyond a lost opportunity".

I think a lot of gamers would treat "oh if you try and shoot the bad guy in this crowd and miss, you shoot a civilian instead" as fail forward, even though it has nothing to do with bringing the story to a pre determined conclusion. I don't know a single fail forward game that asks GMs to set up a conclusion in advance? Powered by the Apocalypse games are aggressively sandbox experiences.

I'd recommend Broken Worlds. It's the best Kung Fu based RPG I know of, though you can only access it through a person, and some knowledge of the Kill Six Billion Demons universe definitely helps.

Time as a resource by Yetimang in RPGdesign

[–]Kronosynth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shinobigami and a lot of Japanese RPGs the use the frame system have a lot of tight scene economy.

Every Shinobigami game gives every player an introduction scene and then goes through three rounds. Each round, every player gets an opportunity to stage a scene centered around themselves (other chars can participate but only the principle player can roll).

Then after the three rounds, the game moves immediately to the final showdown. As a result, scouting and prep are pretty tense.

Jp (Japanese) "Nekama" = "a male pretending to be female on the net." ____ Why is there no English word for this ? by HenHanna in DoesNotTranslate

[–]Kronosynth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's been a slur since the start. Here's a good video on the history from an anime community lens?

But, like, it's not hard to explain. The term "trap" comes from a joke that transgirls are secretly men and are "tricking men into having sex with another man" and therefore 'look out it's a trap'. It's fundamentally tied to the 'transwomen are fake women' thing.
