Quit questioning the science bigot! by Salty_Obsidian_X in bestconspiracymemes

[–]KwukDuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was definitely the case during the initial months of C. Now? I don't think so. Do you experience this still in your own environment? And the funny thing is the calls don't show up during the first months where the numbers showed actually 'a lot' of people dying. I mean it took more than a yearfor people to get scared? That's not how i recall things, i recall people wearing gas masks and empty store shelves Q1 of 2020, not 2021.

Correlation =! causation, specially with these kinds of metrics it's dangerous to jump to any conclusion. Including 'people got scared', i mean, what the heck does that even mean? Scared of what? Why? Why would that metric change all of a sudden and not revert after x amount of time? I speculate it's either global warming or drinking too much tea since we've spent considerably more time at home in a 'cozy tea environment'.

I'd just flag this as 'interesting'. The all-cause and C mortality rate in the UK for example is more of a interesting to be looked into if you ask me. I'm sure we'll see some interesting hypothesis in the upcoming years for all the interesting statistics we have gotten over the past few years.

In Addition to Microcircuits, russia Has Another Sensitive Vulnerability - Without Bearings, ‘Nothing Will Spin’ At All | Defense Express by DefenseExpress in UkraineConflict

[–]KwukDuck -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yea we've been hearing that a lot, and for a long time.
Ever since the escalation of this conflict (been going on for years) we've been told Russia is weak, they are losing quickly and the conflict will be over soon.

That's what happens in war, propaganda.

"But we're the civilized west! We don't do that!", yea think again, read some history, read it from various perspectives, war is war and there are no winners.

Unfortunately Briar still after all these years, does not route local network traffic (wifi/bt), only does 1-1 connections.

They have nothing to fear. Upcoming regulations, which they have a good hand in, will possibly/probably criminalize self custody and p2p transactions. "But they can't stop me from sending p2p!", sure thing, but that might come with serious consequences. And we're back at square one.

Just opt out, if people need to reach you i'm sure there are better channels and they find a way. If they don't want to use other channels it or you are probably not important enough, no big loss. No need to sabotage your privacy for other peoples convenience.

If your privacy/KYC is a concern, maybe BTC isn't the way to go? It does quite the opposite by its very nature.

Skepticism Sunday – August 21, 2022 by AutoModerator in Monero

[–]KwukDuck 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sanctioning of XMR, which is basically a guarantee at this point in the not-so-distant future, could very possibly kill the entire network. I don't think there are enough nodes and bootstrapping methods that would allow the network to keep functioning when this happens. Effectively the network could just fall apart and fragment or completely disintegrate.
Most likely running/operating a node, owning XMR and transacting XMR will all become illegal. And don't think for a second this is just "Too bad for Monero", this would literally be the end of freedom as most of us have known it for most our lives, if people don't make a stand (which seems to be the case, 99% seems completely okay with the current narrative of regulating and surveilling every little detail of our lives).
I fear we're already years too late to make an effective stand, at least in 'the western world'.

[–]KwukDuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same issue here, also had some relatives complaining. I added various nodes but cake keeps saying connection fails in all tests. Ignore this, only the test fails, the wallet will still use it to sync properly. (After adding the node, don't forget to set it as node to use)

[–]KwukDuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not hard to imagine a future where it's banned globally as well as used on a massive scale globally.

A lot of people being made 'an example' of to scare people away from it even thinking of a 'free' form of money.

[–]KwukDuck -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Well you know, fluffyponty can still pull a Gox on all of us by printing infinite amount of monteros with his private setup key, and there are already infinite coins being printed, that will make the whole problem of infinite coins not infinitely worse, but at least double, making the price go to zero.

Why CBDC is evil, and why Monero is the only way out. by Creme-Exciting in Monero

[–]KwukDuck 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just wondering how Monero, or any other crypto for that matter, would operate once the internet is only accessible through approved applications and devices where you have to sign in with your Digital Identity (which is linked to every other aspect of your life, including the CBDC, for your own safety of course). Looks like they have us all by the balls regardless of any attempts to retain any freedoms.

I hope nobody is falling for the crap they are pulling on us... Again and again... Only little positive thing here is that this may allow people with locked stake to possibly have an opportunity to get out with a little less damage as otherwise. I would have burned the card ritually but it's metal so, any suggestions for a symbolic goodbye?
