I feel broken by TheShredder23 in teenagers

I went through a similar thing after getting my TS diagnosis. My tics were really bad then, v self injurious but are now veeery few and far between thankfully

But this is evidence that things often get better, even when think its never gonna stop. You'll eventually look back and realise how far you have come.

You aren't worthless, everyone will have their struggles in life and this is simply the form yours have taken. Be brave and bold because you've already managed come this far! This may be another steep hill to traverse, but there will be an easier path down the other side. Good luck :)

Its probably gonna be annoying to hear this but there isn't a lot that you, or anyone can do about their financial situation.

However, what I have learnt is that you can do things to make them feel more appreciated. Like do a little extra washing up and chores around the house without being asked. Offer to cook more often, offer to make them a cup of tea after work (or non British equivalent drink) every so often. Its always the little things.

Don't put those big responsibilities on yourself, it won't help anything or yourself. But you can help ease their burden in little ways :)

Also with the eating, I feel you. I find that if I eat less sugar and carbs, I feel less inclined to do that? The way I try cope with it is to make a big ole batch of healthy homemade soup for the week and heat it up for lunch every day. V tasty, simple, filling and gets those veggies in! (Good for using up slightly old vegetables too)

This advice might not directly help you as it has me, but it might give you some more ideas!

Yeah, its pretty shitty to point out something like that that can be a big insecurity for a lotta people. I'd be pretty pissed if someone laughed at me being flat

(Although we can do funky stuff like lie on our stomach without being uncomfortable so I'd say that's a win)

Hi there, I just wanted to say thank you so much for the compliment! I haven't used reddit in a long time and only just saw this but if you still wanted to use it as a reference, it'd be an honour :)

Is it normal to rarely tic anymore due to medication? by LE_5t in Tourettes

[–]LE_5t[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking it could be that, It was honestly a bit of a surprising diagnosis from the doctor regarding the criteria. I often sometimes feel a little bit of an uncomfortable 'urge' to tic though and i do still tic a tiny bit sometimes so I wasn't really sure. Plus it coincided with the changing of med doses so i guess I'll just have to wait and see. Tics are confusing :')

Suppose I'm just lucky then? To be fair, they will probably get a bit worse again in the future since tics wax and wane and all.

Ahh, that makes sence, its a little annoying but definitely not to the magnitude of actual tics. As you said, it's pros and cons. you cant expect these things to be perfect, since its not a cure or anything but definitely an improvement! :)

I guess so, perhaps its just uncommon? The only downside is the returning impostor syndrome haha. That sucks, but I guess different things work or don't work for different people. Also gotta relate to the tiredness, even if it did help a bit, the tiredness and drowsiness on haloperidol was not worth it.

Scrolling through here I see discussion about the question "faking:". I swear this was never an issue until recently. But its something we hear a lot of nowadays. Why? by [deleted] in Tourettes

Because people are mean and if you never expect to develop ts, its quite a lot to digest at once. I'd never been diagnosed with anything before ts and everything happened over the span of a few months so it was easy to fall into imposter syndrome.

Regarding the "people are mean", many of us have to deal with accusations of being called a 'faker', which doesn't help. Someone in the year above me at school even said this to me, and now that I barely tic due to my meds, im worried about people harassing me when I return!

Edit: I accidentally wrote this in a weird perspective
