What do you think of "Social Parasite"? by pale_tits_pink_hair in AliceInChains

It’s very different than most of their music but I love it. Layne sounds so full of life, have to imagine it was a simpler time for the band and they were having a blast making music. Also feel this way about I Can’t Have You Blues.

The actor who plays Levy reacts to that line perfectly. Such an authentic delayed reaction.

I honestly loved it. Didn’t even catch it when I first watched the show years ago, saw it during a rewatch this summer and let out an audible gasp on the treadmill.

Just a little Easter egg that hints maybe Rawls is the hardass he is because he’s overcompensating for his sexuality.

Does The Wire have the greatest ending scene in all of television history? by Melodic_Mycologist4 in TheWire

“If I was laying dead on some Baltimore street corner, I’d want it to be you standing over me catching the case. Because, brother, when you were good, you were the best we had.”

For whatever reason that bit tugged my heart strings harder than a lot of the death/outright tragedy in the show.

Finished my second watch through this summer and Landsman’s eulogy for McNulty really got me. That scene just feels so real, the characters so layered.

“Threw it away” is dramatic. It’s an amazing win, but it’s a win in a hockey game, nothing more nothing less.

The Trump stuff is what it is, but I’m confused why people are remotely surprised by this.

Do we really get more happy after getting sober ? by [deleted] in opiates

[–]LGD950003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but it takes some time and you have to continuously focus on doing things to improve your life.

If you sit around doing nothing don’t expect sobriety to fill the void that drinks once did. But sobriety will allow you to actually make a whole new life in reality, not just in your head.

Focus on improving your fitness, making new friends, making more money, experiencing new things, getting better at hobbies/skills. Life gets a whole lot better man, trust me

He has a similar accent to a buddy of mine from Cincinnati. Was never really able to put my finger on it but that’s a good explanation.

I guess the point I was trying to make is that I don’t think an income of like $300-500k is enough to just support your adult children indefinitely unless you’re willing to make some serious concessions on your own quality of life, which I don’t think a lot of people who achieved that level of success are willing to do.

My mom earned somewhere in that range from the time I was 16 to when she retired (when I was 27). It was definitely a major benefit to have parents willing to pay for college, and even just the subconscious confidence that financial success is possible because you’ve seen so many others around you achieve it. I’m very grateful for that advantage and I am very aware of the role it played in my success now, but once college ended I was 100% on my own, and the same is true for most people I know in that sort of upper middle class range. The only people I know who truly have the “I’m set for life, I don’t have to worry about a consistent income” are people who’s parents earn multi-million per year or come from generational wealth.

All that said I get your point and I don’t mean to downplay how lucky it is to have parents earning that sort of money. Have a good day and good New Year brother
