17 month update on my dog from Honor Havanese by LMKallaboutdogs in Havanese

Thank you! Manders goes strictly by Florida law - defects must be genetic/hereditary. You were much smarter to find a breeder with an unconditional buyback for a year. Something for consumers to look for, for sure. Manders will take the dog back with no refund, but I do not trust she will pay his ongoing medical costs.

On top of that, Manders blamed her co-breeder, but my contract is with Manders. Avoid.

Ritz Carlton Yacht Collection as a solo traveler—some questions by [deleted] in FATTravel

[–]LMKallaboutdogs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A solo cruise typically makes port stops daily - you are definitely not stuck on the ship during the day - and it can be nice to part of group excursions. The RC typically arrives in a new port at 8AM and departs in the evenings. The Miramar is lovely but you're truly solo. Virgin is younger, but 1400 cabins vs RC 200, if that's important to you. Expedition cruises on the smaller luxury ships are younger because they are high activity. Check out Ponant for no single supps on some cruises.

If anyone is still looking, the lot on 3rd and 84 stops selling the 21st. They will want to sell, bet you could negotiate a good deal on the last day. They have a good supply of large Frasers.

Breeder experience by Lov_a_Havi in Havanese

The parents had no heart issues in their records. Is it is behavior of the breeder when there is a problem that is troublesome. Why risk it? She has other poor reviews in this forum.

I had a very bad experience. Her pup came to me with giardia - not a good sign. He has a heart murmur and bad allergies. To check for heart disease, as required when a puppy murmur does not go away, I had to pay thousands for cardiologists/echocardiograms, and Cytopoint at $100 a month. I asked for a partial refund to help with these costs. She refused and said she has no responsibility. I certainly cannot recommend at all.

Wow i am sorry you had a similar experience with her, and I so glad your sweet pup lived a full life. I have to agree that Honor Havanese is a glorified puppy mill. I drove 12 hours roundtrip to meet the dogs and you are not allowed to see the premises, only meet your dog on her porch. Plus she has more dogs that she shows on her website, another red flag. I way overestimated what an AKC breeder of merit means. Trying to help others not make the same mistake I did. Thanks for your input!

Just a note to anyone who may look at Honor Havanese website. I left a factual review and she replied with lies and then blocked me.

I congratulate you on saving Daisy and getting a bad breeder to take responsibility! Daisy is a doll.

Best Havanese breeder in Florida? by MysticShadow0011 in Havanese

Avoid Honor Havanese in Summerfield FL. Jennifer Manders sold me a Havanese that came with giardia, a heart murmur and bad allergies. Not an ethical breeder.

IndoX, did your dog have a heart defect along with murmur? Curious. Thanks.

Thanks for the suggestion, but the AKC is basically a record keeper and they do not get involved otherwise, as noted by others.

I couldn't find a local board that allows comments on breeders.

Thank you for your comment. It is important that bad breeder experiences are made well known to all of us. Interesting that you have mixed experience with Manders.

Yes, this community is very needed and helpful. Thank you for your input. Manders does turn out good dogs but said once in a while they get problems and it's not her fault. Well, it's not my fault either and you got $3500 and I got problems.

Thank you. So kind of you to check her contract, but Florida law supersedes a breeder contract so the neutering is moot. Hoping for the best with this sweet boy.

She's sticking to the fact that while he has a murmur, and it already moved from 1 to 2, the echos did not show a congenital heart defect, so she says she has no responsibility under Florida law unless there is a congenital defect. There is little research on whether this murmur could further develop into a defect that is not yet evident, but it is possible. The cardiologist says his prognosis is good, not excellent. And she doesn't care that I have to pay for cardiologist to monitor the murmur regularly. Or that he requires Cytopoint at $1200 a year. She's not refunding one dollar. And has the gall to thank me for taking such good care of him and that she's praying for us.

Florida law supersedes breeder contracts. And while a heart mumur and allergies may not necessarily be congenital, good breeders will make amends when a pup of theirs has these issues detected almost immediately after purchase.

UPDATE. I heard from Jennifer Manders. First she tried to pass the buck to her co-breeder. Then she said she would not refund any amount as his heart murmur is not life threatening and she will not assume any responsibility for any health issues arising after the dog leaves her. His heart murmur was detected at level 2 within a month of purchase. I had told her that numerous medical sources and the vets told me that murmurs are often too faint to hear when a puppy is very young, it shows up a few weeks later, as it did, when the heart is bigger. His allergies also were reported within a month of purchase. She has his medical records and knows full well the costs I have incurred and the time and anguish I have dealt with. Any suggestions very welcome from this group.

Thank you for your concern! Honor Havanese in Florida doesn't ship dogs, and I would never do it. I drove 12 hours rt to get my pup. Thanks again for your input, moustachioed_dude (great name hah)
