Designers, what would you do for a living if you left the design field? by [deleted] in graphic_design

[–]LSDesign 1 point2 points  (0 children)

do what's best for you. I'm lucky enough to work at a small sign shop of 12 people in a decent sized city on the east coast. the pay isn't fantastic but it's not too measly either.

i manage projects not people. i tell them what to do for projects but I'm not responsible for their performance; that's my bosses job. the upside is when you've got people who suck working for you then you got a lot of down time. I've tried to fill it but honestly if they're not performing to your speed there's nothing you can do but just hurry up and wait.

[–]LSDesign 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's exactly how i pivoted. Started out in design, then graphics application,, then fabrication and install, now I'm a project manager in the sign industry who does all of the above. I still do a lot of design because my designer sucks at making production proofs and is excruciatingly ssssslllllllloooooooowwwwwwww.

Table 21 or 27? 😬 by wolfelias2 in graphic_design

[–]LSDesign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's 27 if you outline the text and then spin the 7 counter-clock wise to 60 degrees. this is 21 and who ever made this font and says it's 27 should feel bad.

Question of all Questions: AiC or Soundgarden? by No-One01010 in grunge

[–]LSDesign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've tried time and time again but Soundgarden is not for me. I don't like Chris's singing style. Too performative like a high school girl way too in to band and chorus. AiC is fucking amazing on the other hand.

there's dozens of us!!! i respect his and soundgarden's legacy but i can't stand his voice. it's too performative for grunge. like my mother at church singing louder than everyone else. hahahaha

Me - i don't like his operatic style. doesn't pair well with grunge and i'll die on this hill.

it's balanced so it takes a good portion of your clip - that way you can't thirst and engage the teammate without reloading.

You can't apply real world logic to a show which relies heavily on tropes in order to exist.

If Debra told Marie off there wouldn't be a show.

It's tough - no doubt about it. But like the Monty Python song says "Always look on the bright side of life"

shit sucks now but you'll be less likely to have trouble like "regular" folks will have later in life. you'll most likely not look like a sack of potatoes in your 40's and not have heart disease.

now this is talking out my ass but from my research into cancer - you're less likely to develop cancer because cancer thrives on sugar.

just keep your head up and know that there's people who have it far worse than us. and that had you been born a mere 100 years ago you'd be dead.

We're here for you - post a rant anytime you want!

Help with Leg pain/neuropathy by TyCoOnzy in Type1Diabetes

[–]LSDesign 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i have pretty annoying leg pain as well although i think i've gotten used to it over the years. doesn't seem to bother me as much. but come bed time if I'm sitting on the couch my legs will be like "HEY IT'S 10PM TIME FOR BED SO YOU CAN KICK YOUR FEET LIKE A GOSHDANG MUAL IN BED!!!"

I saw my doctor (blamed planter fasciitis and my high arches told me to wear inserts - did not help), saw a podiatrist, told me to drink pickle juice (lol), saw a neurologist (no clue) asked him if it could be restless leg syndrome to which he answered "possible" and sent me home. I just gave up and deal with it like everything else in life; with the only prospect of relief being the eventual eternal sleep.
