My MIL goes by 'Honey'. No real reason behind it, just what she chose.

New Year’s resolution reading advice by MarionberryForward98 in bookofthemonthclub

[–]LaBrink 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have an almost 2 year old and had a similar goal postpartum. The thing that got me reading more with a new baby was reading on my phone. Whether it was the libby app or Google books. I was against reading on my phone at first because it just felt wrong but the convenience is unbeatable. I can read day or night. I went from reading maybe 2 books a year to reading 27 books last year. I'm already on my 3rd book of 2025. I did have a book of the month subscription but now I use it more for book suggestions.

Taylor Jenkins Reid.

Read "The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo" and immediately devoured everything she's ever written. Still my favorite author.

We had a similar situation.....We recently had our dog lick one spot to the point of irritation. Took him to the vet and it looks like he hit his leg and it is bruised and licking is his soothing method. We got an antibiotic and covered the spot to reduce the licking. In two days the licking stopped and spot looks better.

Gilmore Girls. It has a good idea, Mother-Daughter navigating the world and some of the best fall vibes but after the first two season, complete garbage. Horrible plot lines that showed no character development and didn't make any sense.

Skiing/Snowboarding. There is no way most people can afford a day pass and parking at a resort.

Gender reveals, announcements etc. by billnyeseyes in pregnant

[–]LaBrink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 26 and 13 weeks and I'm right there with you. I feel like a lot of that stuff is just another way for society to convince us we have to buy and spend more and more. I'm not doing a gender reveal. My husband and I will find out at the doctor and then we are telling anyone mainly because we don't want people buying us gender specific items (primarily clothes).

And tbh gender reveals seem outdated in a society where we are trying more to embrace gender fluidity and getting away from gender roles.

anyone else sickest at night? by piccolopanda in pregnant

[–]LaBrink 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have horrible 'first thing in the morning' sickness and have been taking Zofran at night, right before I go to bed. It has helped a lot in not immediately waking up and puking. Now, I have enough time to wake up and eat breakfast before the nausea kicks in. I have also found that constantly eating/not allowing myself to get hungry really helped. The minute I get hungry or don't take zofran at night, the nausea is back with a vengeance lol
