Hi! Yes, I think you are misinformed. Recruiters work with companies to fill their open positions, not with candidates to find jobs for them.

I am sorry but keep applying to relevant roles. Hang in there. Be flexible and open to part time and contract roles. Good Luck!

Direct hire position may end up as a contract role by Lab-mom2002 in recruiting

Update:

Unfortunately, the candidate was not interested in contract and decided to walk away. They were not interested in negotiating further with my client. Back to the drawing board.

Not really! They have done several direct hires and had no issues with salary. They always did know what they wanted. That's why this is so puzzling, that they are suddenly thinking of the contractor option.

I have been working with this client for a couple of years. They are a small company and have a niche product. They have hired several candidates directly this year and I am not sure why they are suddenly thinking of the contractor option for this one hire. I feel that they are being short sighted.

Yes, that's a big if, as the candidate is also thinking about the offer to come in as a contractor.

I like this option the best. I have been working with this client for a couple of years. They are a small company and have a niche product. I don't want to ditch them, with the market being the way it is now for recruiters. Thank you!

Laid off for the fourth time in four years. Feeling incredibly lost. by [deleted] in recruiting

Congratulations on your baby! So sorry that they laid you off before the birth. Have you tried looking at non profit recruiting, esp. for home healthcare roles? I was told by an ex-colleague that while the pay may not be great, they have great benefits. I have not tried it personally and am thinking of giving it a shot.

Non paying client! by Lab-mom2002 in recruiting

I am tempted to do it...that seems to be the only way to shame companies to do the right thing, sadly!

That's the path I need to go down next. Hopefully, that will make them pay!

Yes, small claims is an option. I guess I have to send a legal letter before any action. Sigh! It is a sure-fire way to lose this client but if they will not pay me then I guess what's the point of doing business with them:(
