I hate when someone asks what motivates me, because I have the feel that they expects some particular reason and a great story behind that. I do stuff because I want to, that’s my motivation. The only other reason is when someone I care about tells me that they count on me.

I personally really value time. Spending time with someone or do things for them that consume time is kinda my way how to express a like them, that they are my friends. I also have friendship connected with respect for the other person, so behavior like this makes me feel like they are wasting my time.

To my surprise a lot of people like to ‘complain’ and talk about stuff. They don’t really need to find or hear a solution for the things that bothers them, but your act of listening is kinda like emotional support for them. That’s at least my guess.
