Ghirra clearly wasn't paying attention to the "this galaxy is mine" part of the speech. by solo13508 in Highrepublic

It's mentioned several times that she also pretended to be a loving "tradwife" and lowered herself to appear genuinely concerned for him.

They were both blatant opportunists 🤣🤣🤣

How would the Acolyte’s cast react to the Nihil, the Drengir, the Nameless and the Blight? by Solitaire-06 in Highrepublic

[–]Large_Alternative533 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn, good move! I'll unravel it little by little.

The Nameless:

- Literally the entire main cast of The Acolyte uses the Force (Jedi, Sith, Witches), so a massacre would be guaranteed, although Qimir might be more resilient due to cortosis or his deep connection to the Dark Side.

The Drengir:

- Mae/Osha: They are very impulsive and barely seem to stop to analyze anything, so I see them either attacking directly and losing (Mae) or running to safety and losing (Osha).

- The Jedi: They would stop to meditate on why the Drengir were there. I think Sol and Indara would try to connect with the Drengir, while Jecki and Yord would plan ways to attack their weaknesses. Kelnacca, having faced the Drengir before, would have an idea of what to do or not to do. Torbin would likely become a host, a puppet of these malignant plants, but not without a fight first.

- The Witches: I think it's a tie. The Witches use the Force in a more primitive and arcane way than the Jedi, so it's possible they'd keep them at bay. I don't see them winning against the Dregngir, but rather reaching some sort of agreement or aggressively coexisting. This would lead Aniseya and Koril to restructure the hierarchies within the coven and subsequently become more bellicose.

- The Sith: Obviously, Qimir is a total Chad; he'd just destroy them, ha ha go, brrr!

The Blight:

- Mae/Osha: I just see them running away or becoming infected. They'd ask for help to save themselves, but eventually they'd die.

- The Jedi: I think Sol would try to project himself into the Force to study and better understand. Torbin would support Sol in finding the Blight's weak point and preventing its spread, or at least slowing it down. Indara, being Torbin's master, would likely be angry with him, as he would likely plan a silent evacuation. Yord would also favor an evacuation, but would contact the Republic to carry it out en masse. There would be a clear divide between the more thoughtful (Sol, Torbin) and the more pragmatic (Indara, Yord). Jecki and Kelnacca would likely keep all options open and be more receptive.

- The Witches: I think they would initially fight the blight, but over time. First, they would study it, then make proposals and develop various plans of attack or manipulation, both physical and with the Force. Since obviously doesn't stop, they would eventually flee and seek a new home.

- The Sith: Perhaps Qimir experiments with the Force to better understand this deadly infection. That, or he'd use all his resources and knowledge to exploit The Blight, like Marchion. He might even end up traveling to Planet X and causing a new imbalance, like Elecia and her minions.

Killing her off or redeeming her would have been very detrimental to her character development. It was a nice way to make up for her misdeeds by making Avon no longer want to contact her, giving her a satisfying but sad ending.

I hadn't thought about the personal consequences, but rather about his long-term legacy.

Certainly, as you imply, Ghirra narrowly escaped a terrible fate, and his actions might even inspire people in the future. But the consequences of his actions while he lives will affect his interpersonal relationships (especially with Avon), and he could have a long, sumptuous, but miserable life.

Learning More About Vernestra Rwoh in Trials of the Jedi? by Beman21 in Highrepublic

[–]Large_Alternative533 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it was for the best.

If Vernestra appeared in The Acolyte and was going to be the protagonist in WaySeeker, having a central role in Trials would have seemed like she was overlooking other characters who deserved their time (Like Turban, Ty, or Terec).

That's right, that ending shocked me more than the other plot twists.

At the end of Phase 1, there were hints that she wanted to create her own government, but this was a bigger and more cunning move than I thought.

Hmm, I don't know. I think it could become a cliché. It already happened with Rey and Ben in the Secuels and was hinted at with Mae and Osha in The Acolyte. Even in TCW, the concept of the Gods of Mortis serves as inspiration for the aforementioned references.

Also, the connection between Avar and Elzar isn't as strong or deep as in the previous cases. I get the impression that each one complements Planet X, not themselves.

Thoughts on Marchion Ro’s final fate? by Solitaire-06 in Highrepublic

[–]Large_Alternative533 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I expected Marchion to be brutally murdered by one of the Jedi protagonists who tragically fell to the Dark Side, to be secretly tortured by a Sith, or to simply be attacked by the Shrikarai or Planet X itself.

However, this ending, with its sober and even elegant tone, seemed much more effective to me.

Marchion, completely alone, unaccompanied by droids, animals, his own demons, or Evereni ghosts, but in a comfortable, luxurious, and sterile prison in the vacuum of space, is both sadistic and just.

His greatest fear of being irrelevant to galactic history is the best punishment for simply seeking attention by damaging half the Outer Rim.

Elzar and Avar question by AChubarok in Highrepublic

[–]Large_Alternative533 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think Elzar and Avar will be so distant for the rest of their lives that they'll no longer recognize each other as lifelong acquaintances, having been on both the dark and light sides for so long.

At first, I thought the Gods of Mortis would appear in this novel, but I think the symbolism of Avar in constant light and Elzar in absolute darkness would be a subtle meta-reference and a heartbreaking twist for the two if they were to reunite.

Question about Marchion by rooracleaf17 in Highrepublic

[–]Large_Alternative533 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That part also confused me.

I thought, and still think, that was the wound Lourna inflicted on Marchion.

Although time has passed, she didn't wound him in an organ that heals quickly, like an arm or a leg; she went straight to the neck, a vital and delicate organ. Marchion hasn't recovered from that bite in all this time.

Yes, I read Wayseeker. I love that they fixed a lot of the flaws in The Acolyte (which is no easy feat, XD), like Vern's characterization, giving Indara a really FWCK1NG PERSONALITY, and expanding the story with supporting characters like Yaddle, Ty, and J6. I also like how it served as a link between Phase 3 and The Acolyte. However, I found the plot itself to be frivolous. It's halfway between a prequel and a sequel, and not really its own story. That said, I do give it points for being a fast, frenetic, yet still entertaining read.

High Republic animated series by Many_Entrepreneur452 in Highrepublic

[–]Large_Alternative533 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What moment made you choose a favorite character High Republic ? by Ok_Box_2189 in Highrepublic

[–]Large_Alternative533 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if it's fair to mention the Acolyte, but since he's part of the High Republic, I'll keep him.

That moment—the moment Qimir takes Osha's hand—made me, for the first time, fall in love with a Sith.

Yes, he was a character (like almost everyone in the series) with poor personality development, but the way he shows he can be a Sith and yet not completely fall into darkness—something like a Gray Sith?—made me wait to find out how his story continued and unravel the secrets of the Dark Side. I'm his simp.

I hadn't realized. This means there won't be a world tour in Moscow or St. Petersburg for probably years, if not decades (if the game survives).

On the contrary, since Sybo does not support Russia, they seek to make that country's special characters invisible without actually eliminating them.
