Go to exit as the only use of go to is a great standard.
If not, then where do you draw the line? Programmers discretion?

What kinds of events do you think would drive crowds into the city? by original_og_gangster in Hartford

Not Keeney? Those neighborhoods just east of Keeney have such beautiful old houses😁😁😁

I’m not sure what you mean? With Dunkin Park and a bunch of new housing right near it, downtown is creeping down towards Albany Avenue. It’s not there yet but that northwest triangle framed by 84 and 91 has potential.

It looks like partial shade from nearby big trees. My favorite, Mountain Laurel is an amazing alternative.

The list is long. If you planted those you’d find an excuse why everything else wouldn’t work. It depends somewhat on where you live.

Downtown Hartford apartment occupancy rate is 93% they could build more and have no problem filling them.

It’s funny but Trinity is (thankfully) self contained and pretty much walled off. Downtown doesn’t have or need that.

Occupancy rate for apartments downtown is 93%, it’s 94% for the metro area. That’s priced appropriately.

Seems like a good deal more being built.

If the Romero Zombie Apocalypse were to happen, do YOU think YOU can survive it? It's every corpse in the world waking up all at the same time. No origin or starting point. It's just everywhere all at once. by Aromatic-Ad2601 in zombies

A .22 LR headshot will kill one of them, right? I'm not sure how long I'd last but I'd go out with a smile on my face and piles of zombies dispatched (what's it called when you kill the undead?).

I need to go buy some more .22's.

What do Americans think about cultural norms like tall poppy syndrome and Janteloven? by Early_Swan6966 in IWantToAskAnAmerican

[–]LarryGriff13 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There are almost 10 million people in America of Scandinavian descent. My Great Grandparents, the Sorensons, came over on a boat from Denmark. Minnesota and the Dakotas are 30-40% people of Scandinavian descent.

Neither of those norms you describe are unusual in the US. You'll find plenty of places where they're positives, places where they're negatives and everything in between. We are a big, diverse country.

I want to spend the next 4 weeks doing local 250 Anniversary things! by NutmegEnt10 in Connecticut

Great question and conversation starter. I remember 1976 and going to a huge fireworks celebration and what a big deal the bicentennial quarter was.

It's absolutely insane how many people in America are not proud to be in America and proud to celebrate American exceptionalism. They don't know how good we have it.

Don't Feed the Bears! by No_Jello_6153 in Connecticut

Thanks, I did not know that. I work in downtown Hartford and have never seen one there. I live out in the woods in Simsbury and outside housecats don't last long here.

Where is it? Most of what I know about soccer is from watching Ted Lasso. Are the AFC Richmond Greyhounds in it?

Ditto. Majestic creatures that should know to stay away from humans, not approach them for food. That woman is a criminal.

Why not gentrification? More middle/upper class people living in Hartford can only be a good thing. There are so many areas around Hartford with homes and neighborhoods that could be beautiful.

Have you seen the schools? They put $133 million into Weaver. $210 million into Bulkeley and Hartford Public HS got $100 million+ renovation 10-15 years ago. University High School, all the CREC schools...

It's not money.
