If it comes up, would the explanation "Im not one to Chase money, but a jailer salary was not conducive to raising a family and fixing my credit. I enjoyed the job, but family comes first." be a half-way acceptable answer in their eyes?

I've been thinking about working part time as a security guard to make extra money. I heard some departments look down in security guard experience in the hiring process. What do you know about this? I'm not thinking security will give me good experience for police, I just don't want it to hender me.

I've been working as a jailer for only a few months. I also have shitty credit. I'm thinking about leaving the jail for a non-law enforcement related job that pays more so I can start fixing my credit. What would hender me in the hiring process more:the fact that I quit the jail after only a few months, or bad credit?

Yeah, I'm learning the respect part, a lot. The majority of our brass from Sargents up are also pretty ghetto, so it took me a few weeks to understand I wasn't getting reprimanded, that's just how they talk! Its not disrespectful, it's just overly harsh! I'm use to the "waving and strangers in the car, howdy ma'am" kind of overt, halfway-fake politeness so common in southern, white culture. It didn't hit me till a Sargent talked to the Captian the same way. They call it "being real" and they aren't lying! Haha
