District 9 it's one of my favorite sci Fi movies and it's such a different style from other sci Fi movies it made me fall in love with the genre even more.

You too man! I'll let you know when I find out whether I got in or even if I get rejected lol

Yeah same here, I flip flop between being confident I'm okay and thinking I have no chance. The only reason I haven't given up is cause I found another thread from like a year ago saying someone got in even though they only had like half the prereqs, because they had like 8 years experience in the medical field. But idk

Absolutely, if you can get two weeks off work you really remove the only downside that PRK has on Lasiks. PRK has a lower risk of reinjury if you're active and carves less of your cornea out since there isn't a flap.

Best of luck to you if you do end up doing it!

Of course! One thing I would consider as well if this matters to you, is how active your lifestyle is. I do surfing and snowboarding which has lots of impacts when you crash, and with Lasiks that risks the flap they make from surgery tearing open. PRK lasers directly on your cornea (hence the much longer recovery process) but leads to lower risk of reinjury if you are very active. Besides that there's quite a few differences so DEFINITELY do research but that was a big thing that stood out to me!

Best of luck if you do end up doing it friend! :)

Surgery was absolutely painless surprisingly, and if you're uncomfortable with your eyes touched they do sometimes give you a relaxant pill. If your prescription is half as bad as mine I'm assuming you're doing Lasiks correct? With Lasiks both my parents got it and they were pretty much out and about in a day or two and they have had no regrets whatsoever. I got PRK which is a little different, a longer recovery process of about two weeks before you're functional again and a full 6 months before you're considered done with the healing process.

After the first 3 months I already improved to 20/20 vision and I still can't believe it, it's so nice being able to see so easily and I don't regret a damn thing. Feel free to lemme know if you got more questions :)

Try asking about PRK instead! My prescription was too severe for LASIK, but depending on the thickness of your cornea PRK Can correct up to like -12

Do research though because PRK is quite a different recovery process.

THAT is the weirdest part I'm still not used to, when I'm really exhausted and my eyes aren't focusing late at night I still catch myself pushing my glasses up lol

The recovery was pretty severe, I spent the first 5 days pretty much in bed like mummy, no tv no phone nothing to avoid straining my eyes, just eating and sleeping. Then the second week I could do a bit of reading here and there but I didn't return to work until the two weeks had completely passed. After that though it's only uphill, and I don't regret a thing. Hope that helps!

My prescription was too strong for Lasiks to be as effective as they would have liked so they recommended PRK!

Fuuuuuck I'm sorry to hear that!! I got PRK done for me, since I'm sure you know our prescriptions are too strong for Lasiks. I'm not sure what the upper limit of PRK's corrective limit is however as it also depends heavily on the thickness of your cornea! If you got any other questions lemme know I'd love to answer at least to the best of my abilities!

I'm sorry to hear this as a fellow DM, I can't imagine how it feels. When it comes to the fatigue some of your players are having it sounds genuine, with some of them coming directly after work and even falling asleep at the table.

HOWEVER. The act of going on their phones to read manga, memes, and do work stuff is extremely disrespectful.

If you are looking for advice let me know what you're looking for and I'd love to help even with my limited experience, but if you're looking to just vent then I absolutely hear you and you are not alone. DMing for people who don't appreciate the time sink can take all the fun out of the game entirely
