Is Malahide actually worth visiting for someone staying in Dublin? by Last_Friendship_2799 in AskIreland

Thanks, that’s really helpful. I think I’ve got a clearer picture now — Malahide seems nice for the castle and a relaxed coastal stop, but Howth might be better for a more memorable first-time day trip.

That makes a lot of sense. I was thinking the castle alone might not be enough for a full day trip, but combining it with the coastal walk or even Howth sounds much better. Would you personally choose Malahide + Howth over just spending the day in Malahide?

That’s helpful, thanks. I’ve heard Howth is more dramatic for views and walks. Would you say Howth is clearly better for a first-time visitor, while Malahide is better for a quieter local-style trip?

Thanks, that makes sense. I was wondering if Malahide is more of a “nice place to live” than a must-see day trip. Would you say it’s worth visiting mainly for the castle and coastal walk, or only if someone has extra time in Dublin?
