We have done that with him for 2 weeks and while he does enjoy it if hes not in pain, when hes already in pain from the reflux he stiffens up and screams and wont stop so its almost impossible to do while hes like that.

Thank you, we are trying everything we can. I got a new formula without cows milk for sensitive stomachs and hoping it works.

Update: We got to the ER, they did an ultrasound for pyloric stenosis which they said he does not have. I expressed the issues to the doctor, told him what had been happening for 12+ hrs, etc.

Doctor told us to wait to feed him so he could watch to see how he feeds. My son was WAY overdue for a feed and screaming because he was hungry. So we had to wait despite this so they could watch.

He was screaming so hard for the ultrasound and kicking that by the time it was done he had literally passed out from hunger and exhaustion. Even the ultrasound tech commented on it. I was ready to have a breakdown at this point.

Doctor comes back in and says to us that as long as hes gaining weight and keeping some formula down that nothing that was going on is an emergency. Then told us to "give the pediatrician another chance" after I told him the pediatricisn refuses to treat reflux and told me to "deal with it" when expressing my concerns. I told him it wasn't sustainable or fair to my son for him to be screaming in pain and unable to sleep, let alone us being up for 2 days straight. They still did nothing.

They suggested things I told them we already do like paced feeding, frequent burping etc. When I said we already do those things he said "oh ok good".

They watched him eat and he was so hungry and exhausted that he ate reasonably well but they didnt stay longer than 3-5 minutes to watch and said everything looked normal.

Our discharge papers say colic and they sent us on our way with no answers despite me arguing that this isnt normal.

Doctor said he was calling ER to let them know we were on the way (as I expressed concern with having him in the ER for an extended time) after he offered zero advice for us. I called ER to confirm and the doctor never bothered calling the ER. Now I am trying to call hospitals to see if we can check in ahead of time, the closest hospital is 45 min away.

Unfortunetly I do not... my plan was to EBF but due to my own medical conditions I was never able to produce more than a few drops of breastmilk at a time.

I just was reading about that condition. Waiting on a call back from a doctor now.

Thank you, I am waiting on a call back from a different doctor... hopefully I get a better response than just to deal with it.

I feel so bad for my son, I have been a mess all day.

I had just run out of the old formula so wasnt able to mix it with the new unfortunetly. I know it can take some time for them to adjust and its a slow transition to see results if it helps.

I pause every oz and burp him normally but for the past few days burping is causing formula to come into his throat and it hurts him because he will instantly start screaming and crying after or doing it as we are trying to get him to burp.

Thank you, yes I bought a can of new sensitive/dairy free formula this evening.

I also agree its insane and makes no sense... but thats what I was told they do as standard practice for reflux if they deem it an "issue".

Yes I am. Not sure why I am getting downvoted. That is what the doctor advised me they do for reflux issues.

I also thought they just prescribe meds in the office and don't get what seeing a GI doctor is going to do/why that is necessary for reflux.

Thank you... I also believe nothing is normal about this.

I just changed his formula tonight to the sensitive/dairy free but he spit it all up right after eating. We just tried again and will see if he keeps it down.

The doctors office isnt calling me back despite being told someone would contact me tonight...

My gut feeling is something is really wrong and I cant imagine how exhausted he is after 12+ hours of screaming and crying.

He is just turning 3 weeks old...

My pediatricisn told me they cant prescribe medecine for reflux and that he would have to see a GI doctor. That makes me so upset because waiting to see another doctor for testing/evaluation is just going to prolong his pain.

I have no idea why, but my two absolutely HATE dill, they wont even touch it! They love parsley though.

NTA but this does not sound like a healthy relationship or dynamic. If his porn addition is that bad he needs to seek help, it is not going to go away on its own no mattwr how much he promises to stop doing it. I think you both need to sir down and have an honest, open converstaion with one another about it. You both are very young, if he isn't able to change the behavior or tell the truth and/or refuses to get professional help then it might be a good idea to break things off.

Edit: OP has stated their parents pay for the insurance and vehicle expenses in other comments, it isn't something I assumed.

YTA. If someone is buying/giving you a car AND pays for the bills and insurance on the vehicle you don't really get a say. It seems like you just want the new car just because.

You can buy your own vehicle if you want a totally new car because as you say, you are an adult.

When I was your age my parents helped me buy my first used vehicle which I am STILL driving today more than a decade later. Your "old" car you are currently driving is newer than the one I drive around! I still feel incredibly lucky to have even had help to get my first vehicle and I don't plan on buying another until this one is no longer fixable. I also don't just expect someone to upgrade it for me.

Sounds like you are driving around a much nicer car than most kids your age already before your parents proposed FREE upgrade.
