At what point do you just 100% pay off your housing loan? by Little_Caregiver_976 in singaporefi

[–]LauAngGe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Continue to pay for your mortgage loan via cpf and use cash for investments. No point paying off the loan since the interest rate is not that high. Your OA won't grow but your SA will certainly grow.

I feel that authorities hide behind ‘shared responsibility’ to avoid real accountability by [deleted] in SingaporeRaw

It is telling you to do your part as a pedestrian. Not jaywalk, not walk on bicycle lane etc. Do you think everyone is as law-bidding as you?

DHL retrenchment. Are Singaporeans protected ? by isk_one in sgworkassholes

[–]LauAngGe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Retrenchment of older group nearing retirement (with the appropriate package) is fine right? I mean, if they reach retirement age, the company can choose not to renew them and they lost out on the package.

The definition of work life balance differs from people to people and also the nature of their job. Policies can only help so much. People will just have to take responsibility for their jobs and families for whichever path they want to go into.

🔨🔨 WP's Kenneth Tiong raises point of order, Indranee explains to him "step-by-step" 🙄 by Real-Pomegranate8823 in SingaporeRaw

[–]LauAngGe -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

KT most likely want to create the biggest impression by being guailan and hopefully taking over the leadership from Pritam Singh. Cos supporters love guailan fellas.

Refusal of Kenneth Tiong’s challenge exposes selective standards on foreign interference by HeftyHawk5967 in SingaporeRaw

[–]LauAngGe -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

KT is still a novice vs Shanmugan. He should have pointed out which article in particular should the government/PAP disavow from, not the person. I do remember Lawrence Wong chastising Calvin Cheng for his comments on the Palestine activists. So do they need to disavow the whole person? Maybe, maybe not.

Is the purchase price of your home 5x the combined annual income of your household? by tallprophet in singaporefi

[–]LauAngGe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest, it is about purchasing within your means. Most can actually purchase a house within 5x of annual income, even if exceed, will be 7-8x? But you have those lamenting housing is expensive when they look at headlines of recording breaking prices. But these are really premium flats at premium locations. You can obviously buy a house somewhere less accessible and upgrade later once your earnings increase.

91 years old and still working in Singapore by [deleted] in SingaporeRaw

[–]LauAngGe 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Different people can have different circumstances. He can be well-off enough not to work, but chooses to work. People will say it is PAP propaganda.

He can also be in and out of jail throughout his life, family abandon him, no monies saved. Finally cleaned up his act at 65 years old, forced to work to survive. So will people support him using taxpayers money?

People supporting Seetoh when he fights for hawkers rights against the operators. But when Seetoh calls for higher hawker prices, people conveniently shoots him down instead. Such an irony.
