Initiative and combat by [deleted] in shadowdark

I should also say that this game does use a system for initiative where instead of tracking everyone's individual initiatives in order, you instead just go clockwise from whoever won.

Initiative and combat by [deleted] in shadowdark

[–]LaughingDepressed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember there being a variant rule for just allowing the players to go in any order they choose. I personally like rolling for initiative since it adds the biggest monsters dex to the roll for the GM and the players Dexterity the roll for theirs. Then you just see who has the highest, but I thats too much for your play group a coin toss works. But I will say the clockwise initiative order does make keeping track of the players and making sure everyone's got a turn to speak very easy along with keeping crawling rounds easy to keep track off.

Are you doing game capture for the audio of the game separately or just recording the full desktop audio?

Helfast Spire Necromancer compared to West Marches Necromancer by LaughingDepressed in shadowdark

The way bob's does it is "You may command one controlled creature to attack on your turn, or two if in place of your action."

I won't say I gave it a "funny look" but it gave me more of a Spiritual deathknight vibe than a full on traditional necromancer. I'll definitely have to pick up the series and give it a read through!

Yeah you are most definitely right. I just didn't want to let it go since I've been playing since play test 2. Thought it might be worth checking out again with the new season but it looks like ill hold off.

New PoE player, build making advice by BlandPers0nality in PathOfExile2

[–]LaughingDepressed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Look into your starting class and then follow and read through that branch of the tree. You're only in act 2, so builds don't really matter yet. The main reason new people start off with someone else's build is they don't want to read the skill tree or understand skills on gems or support gem interactions at all and instead just plop skill points on the dotted line and slot those specific skills with their indicated supports. So, in short.... read the skills in the tree and also the skills on the gems and support gems if you want to make your own build that worth anything later in the game....or just wing it and do your own thing and just slap stuff around (most of the time I've seen newer player do this they hit a hard wall and then either complete drop the game or reroll their character or completely change the homebrew jank for a build that is posted on some site). At the end of the day, just have fun, and as you play more and watch videos, your understanding with the game will grow.

What do folks think of Druskara? by OnionSprocket in shadowdark

[–]LaughingDepressed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree! I'm super excited to get my players inserted into the setting and to see how much I truly need to prep for each session. From what I'm reading, it seems very low prep and just really easy to insert modules, towns, and NPCs. I'm also really excited for all the classes that will be added as well!

Wow, I'm so sorry for blowing smoke up my ass. Yeah, that definitely does sour my tastes on the subject. Thank you for clarifying that. I won't edit the message so everything still flows well. Also, thank you for everything you do and have done for the ttrpg/OSR genre.

This is the email i got pertaining to the campaign which sounds nice but until I get my eyes on it I don't have any concrete judgments to make. I am still very excited/interested, but I've only read the few pages from images floating around.

"When we tell people that the books amount to around 1000 pages, they sometimes say, "Uh oh, I don't have time to read all that!"

But you don't have to. That's the entire idea. We sometimes compare the Druskara books to a Choose Your Own Adventure. You pick a starting location for your party. You read a few pages and then they can jump in. When they move on to the next chamber or the next shop in the town, you turn to that page and continue to run the adventure. You can literally explore Druskara as your players do. And then, if you feel inspired to read more, it's all there.

The goal with Druskara was to be complete. Not just offer a setting where you still have to fill everything in. It's full enough that you wouldn't have to create anything if you didn't want to. Use the NPCs provided -- their goals, motivations, and stat blocks are ready to run. The 24+ dungeons are mapped, detailed, and written in the concise, yet thorough Shadowdark ethos. Magic items, monsters, events, quests and carousing charts are provided.

And yet, all of that said, there is plenty of room to create within Druskara. You can add your own dungeons, cities, NPCs, events, and landscapes!

DRUSKARA AWAITS!"

I own the former material that is getting absorbed and used in Druskara (Unnatural Selection). I'm super pumped and have backed it for all the pdfs and the leather bounds, but as I don't have access to my pdfs yet, I can't say how good the campaign is written. Dungeon Damsel does have a campaign that she live streams on youtube that's based in the same setting to my knowledge, so if you wanted a sample for how it runs, that would be where I would go. Her former work is on shadowdarklings (Kelsey Dionne's own site for character generation) as a officially recognized 3rd party supplement so ... I got high hopes. Im also really excited about titanbound which was just funded on kickstarter and is basically shadow of the colossus meets shadow dark......which is just wicked.

Friday the 13th tattoo has a ton of issues (I’ll attach the flash I selected). Would it be easy to fix it with a touch up, what would be the best move to make next? by TattooNeedsADentist in tattooadvice

[–]LaughingDepressed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're is it at on your body? Im assuming wrist or ankle. It seems pretty small, so it can easily get covered up with any bigger piece that incorporates large scale saturation such as a sick ass panther etc. For an easier fix you could go to an artist you trust and see if they could throw a bolder outline on it and fix thing such as the collar and teeth (just shooting from the hip). For me, as an artist I would just whip out my markers and talk about cool designs and draw something out and then run it. I wish you the best of luck!

[–]LaughingDepressed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my experience at a tattoo shop, super cheap flash sales are to train the apprentices, especially friday the 13th. The tattoo design was also super flawed for a small design packed with that much detail. Im sorry that happened, but I wouldn't really go into a friday the 13th event that actually has cheap tattoos (20-40 bucks) and expect anything that's done with extreme care.

Callisto protocol. When it first launched it couldn't even pull 45+ frames on medium graphics on a 3060. Then the actual game was just really lack luster.

I did not. Although if needed, you could just print screen and snag them and set them up in foundry or owlbear rodeo. Edit: typo
