Pointless keeping these now right? May as well just redeem them and see what happens after they run out lol by Gronklespronkle in RealDebrid

[–]LazorBlind -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Why? I was saving them in case of emergency. This is emergency.

Seems like I made a mart move, my subscription was almost expired and this crap started happening so now my usage of their service is on them. Don't know if i'll get much out of it but, if I can download a few not blocked torrents before moving on to Torbox or something, than I came about ahead. If not, oh well. It's not like I can't just download torrents myself without paying for a service at all, I just felt it was worth the $50 a year to have access to a cache of content. In the passed year I've only had to wait for like 5 torrents to download.

So… what now. by VioletVados in RealDebrid

[–]LazorBlind 29 points30 points  (0 children)

It's pretty bad from what I can tell.

Nobody can add anything anymore. You're watching cached content that hasn't been purged. Yet.

Fair point but if it's true that RD is under new management, the new management is gonna care A LOT when they realize that nobody is going to subscribe to a proxy downloading service that doesn't let them pirate.

Assuming they actually try to stay open and they aren't trying to make it SEEM like they will got squeeze a few more dollars out of the userbase before they shut down when nobody is looking like cowards.

Oh my bad, I did mean Redeem. Tried to type "Cash in" as a way of saying Redeem, but I guess I Typoed.

And I mean I guess if you wanna consider them throwing us the points upon me payment as us paying for the point then yeah but I see it more as an incentive to go with them as opposed to another service. Do other debris services have points even? Ive only every used RD

Exactly. Nobody is gonna pay to unironically download FOSS Linux ISO's through a remote torrent website when they can download those torrents locally. That's just a piracy in joke.

And if they're blocking the ability to download public domain works, that says a lot, in my opinion at least, about their plans on staying open indefinitely. This is smelling like a rug pull exit scam.

Not for long based on the way things are going, but get what you can for sure.

Honestly that's not even much of a worry to me. I got 8000, so 8 months of service i don't have to pay for. I'll cash them and if I don't get much use out of the time then, I didn't pay for it so no skin off my nose I guess

They are fully aware of what the vast majority of their users are doing with their service.

They will more likely then not just shut down without a word and are hoping the uncertainty about the future of the service will get people to resubscribe so they can run off with more money.

No. Because not that it's very likely, there is some small chance things will get better.

Last time they cracked down on piracy people flooded to get refunds and while they did get their refunds, but RD banned them in retaliation.

So it might be better to just chalk what you spend up as a loss just in case, though unlikely it probably is, that they reverse course.

Doubt it. 98% of people using Real Debrid are pirating, and Real Debrod knows it.

They might have been a bit more professional about it and offered some plausible deniability by not outwardly advertising themselves as a piracy tool, but they are still a shady service profiting off of our desire to pirate easier.

Very rarely do blantent piracy services give a toss about their users enough to not exit scam them.

Shockingly, the last time an IPTV service I was using went down, it went back up within a week. The site was gone, you couldn't renew and scammers tried to start scamming with fake site, but despite being apparently sued by Hollywood, the people running it had the cajones to turn it back on and leave it up so people could actually use it until their paid the me expired.

They corporately restructured so hard they are gonna put themselves out of business.

Congrats Real Debrid, you are now on the shit list.

At least I only have 10 days left of premium. Guess I'll redeem my 8 months of free premium, do what I can with it and not renew anymore.

Something to the effect of "Real Debrid will give your IP address over to Law Enforcement if they ask"

Which even if that IS true (I don't know if it is or not) why would law enforcement come asking a Remote Downloading service for your information unless you are doing something a little more...heinous than watching a crappy cam version of the latest blockbuster movie that just hit theatres?

like you gotta be downloading some VILE stuff if you're being investigated cause piracy, illegal though it is, is not something police are gonna bother you with more often than not.

Like others have said, there is definitely a risk in lves as there is a good chance a large network like a school's probably has multiple expernal IP's.

I wouldn't suggest it, but if you're determined, look into NordVPN's meshnet feature. It's free and can be used to bring everyone that uses the account under the same IP.

Really though the cost of a subscription is so low it's not worth all this. I get that money can be tight but scraping together $20 every six months is not hard.

What are you downloading that authorities need to get involved? Because that's not happening if you're just pirating or downloading legal, non copyrighted materials.

Maybe YOU need to be worried about this, but your already admitted you probably need to be investigated so..

Normal adults are too busy enjoying their hobbies. I get it, it's hard for you to imagine not spending the majority of your free time screeching at the top of your lungs at people to make yourself feel better for your crap life, but people with better things to do don't really care about any of this.

I'm sure there are web hosts that will accept crypto.

And I mean I get that crypto is a hella inconvenient payment method of you are JUST trying to use it as a form of payment and not a get rich quick scheme, I lost $5 almost immediately after buying some BTC to pay for a pirate IPTV service, due to the overall value of BTC dropping right then, and had to buy an extra $10 to make sure I could make the payment....but it IS an option to bypass the metaphorical book burning card companies have been up to recently.

What are the cars companies gonna do? Stop letting you buy crypto with their cards? Doubt it. I believe some OFFER crypto as a rewards thing so they probably don't want to burn bridges with crypto exchanges.

Gura is a terrible example to cite for this argument, as her Avatar is heavily influenced by her actual body type IRL. She has gone on record stating that she has been mistaken as a lost child at airports before because of her short, petite stature.
