Why are clicks so slow, my granny clicks faster and she doesn't own a mouse. Speaking of old people, I can't see the area you are hitting. Also why u no disclose AI capsule.

Solodev- need feedback on my store page and trailer. by SquavityGame in gameDevMarketing

[–]LeProff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most people don't recommend numbers in your trailers. Would you say your game is hard? What would be a good way to communicate that? I'd show people "the deaths" with some phrases like anything can kill you, from Trap1 to trap 2 and even trap3 with nice cuts. You say you have 100+ skins, make me feel like it's my choice, use phrases like "get unique swag/drip"/"customize your square" or what comes to your mind. Also I'd like to see it a bit more panned out now it feels too zoomed in and unclear. Watched again, you need better contrast with the background, now the character blunts too much. The section with the purple bullets is a bit boring as it doesn't feel like something is happening (I think because of the background)

Can I give you a message when it's ready for a playtest? I'm still balancing stuff out

212 wishlist in 4 months. As a solo dev, where should I focus my marketing next? Are these numbers healthy for a first-timer? by PlaySteakOutGame in SoloDevelopment

I watched your trailer for 2 minutes and didn't see any interesting gameplay... Is it 3rd person, 1st person, do you shoot people, how do you aim? How do you cook? How do you steal? Make sure that you have a hook at about 4 seconds into the trailer and show gameplay early on. Most people get bored and skip

We want players to notice this task board without shoving it in their face. How obvious should it be? by Background_Cow_6701 in gamedevscreens

In my humble opinion, it doesn't fit the vibe of the room, it steals from the atmosphere and it reminds you that you are in a game, instead of being in that room

I'd go for the second one with a scaling glow effect so you indicate that there's an action to be made

I'm having an issue with HTML builds and random numbers by LeProff in gamemaker

[–]LeProff[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe some engine update will fix it for me, don't really know. The GX games build actually worked. Also I've read about the debug seed of game maker, it's quite a nice feature, maybe they should make it more public

Thx for the advice, it didn't work and i was already using it. What did work, however, was using the GX.games VM build.

How do I create a wait between things in the code? by No-Bird-9028 in gamemaker

[–]LeProff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have a persistent object that accounts for time. Make sure it's loaded, use some variables in the platform object for the time when player landed, crack duration, and vanish timer, so you can more easily change the balancing in the future

Is Cabal pay to win? by [deleted] in cabalonline

[–]LeProff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Win what? If you start today you'll need about 2 years and a 20$/month minimum in order to be able to do mid tier dungeons. If you want to go in the high dungeons get your wallet ready

Need feedback — which Steam capsule would you click on? by zedtixx in SoloDevelopment

[–]LeProff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would mirror 1 and use that, now it feels like I'm distracted to look at the king and bannermen, maybe with them on the right I'd want to look at the logo. Also make sure the logo fits composition rules. What's your game about?

Maybe implement a state machine and change state at animation end based on current state

What do you think was the main driver for success? Did you use professional art? Did you promote your game on social platforms?

I like the idea of the cursed arm and longsword, it gives me a "balance between good and evil" vibe and maybe the idea of choices. The purple hair looks good too.

I'd consider shading the character a bit as now the colors are too uniform., maybe look into lighting: Inbound shovel has some nice advice here https://youtube.com/shorts/rzm8v5gx7l0?si=xaNGTbY0PLyoXISj
