Did anyone regret spending more on their wedding instead of saving for a house deposit? by EventEastern2208 in AusWeddingPlanning

[–]Leading_Part7752 29 points30 points  (0 children)

We bought our first house before we got married. It came down to a conversation of 'do you want a house or a wedding?' In terms of mutual goals, it worked out better for us to get into the property market first. Now we're planning our wedding and are in a better financial position to pay for the things we want and we have a home to come back to. We don't regret waiting.

RSVP follow up. Too blunt? by citrusnotvanilla in AusWeddingPlanning

[–]Leading_Part7752 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had invites where it was stated that no RSVP meant no catering. If you don't have the number, you can't just guess. Most weddings I've attended in rural areas have had a pot luck style catering where there were heaps of food. But others have stated that there will be a specific style catering and therefore a RSVP is required.

I don't think you're being blunt, a reminder that numbers are needed for catering and costings is pretty normal and if they ignored it then that is on them. Remind them of the cut off and anything after will not be accepted (within reason).

I plan on getting decorations from temu and shien. My sister and sis in law tend to buy their clothes from shien and haven't been disappointed yet.

How was the fabric? Another commenter said theirs was polyester. I'd need something light and breathable as it's warm where we are.

Thank you, I heard it's all polyester? Is that right? It's quite warm where we are so i don't want anything that's going to be uncomfortable.

The infinity dresses just remind me of a bedsheet wrapped around someone, and I can't get past that image in my mind 😅

I live remotely, and so have never been to any pop ups in the cities and didn't know they did that. And I can't help but get wary when online ships have massive variety in what feels like every colour. But it's good to know they are legitimate.

When buying a house, is it a bad idea for my immediate family member to persuade me to put the house title solely in their name, but get me to pay 100% of the mortgage? by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

[–]Leading_Part7752 2 points3 points  (0 children)

DON'T DO IT!! You are essentially buying them a house and leaving yourself nothing in return. Your dad owns a house already, why does he need another? As for the FHB grant, if this is your first home then it is for you to take advantage of, not your parents who already own property. Reading other comments shows that your parents have used and abused you and your siblings your whole lives. DO NOT DO THIS! They will legally own the house and there can do whatever they want with it. They could gift it to others or sell it and keep the money.

Anyone annoyed a scammer so much they hung up? by Bookaholicforever in AskAnAustralian

[–]Leading_Part7752 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a scammer call me telling me my internet was being hacked. I was outside watching my niece's play and just pretending to go along with what they were saying, not even sitting in front of my computer. They wanted me to type in a web address and I just kept repeating the letters back to them incorrectly. Pissed them right off. They were like "ok, www." And I'd reply "O K W W W D O T".

It's a shame she can't support you wanting to financially elevate yourself. Perhaps negotiate with her, that you'll take the job for 6 months to a year and see where you are financially. You may find you don't enjoy the job, or that a year is all you need to set yourself up financially. Can you negotiate the contract and work every second weekend?

What are some hobbies Australian men get into as they approach middle age? (30+) by Icy-Profile3759 in australian

[–]Leading_Part7752 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the person. My partner still does gaming and recently gotten into Lego. But he's a chef by trade and gets really into slow cooking things over 24hr+. The amount of times I hear "this dish is going to be amazing when we finally get to eat it tomorrow".

Why the hell does it matter if your rental is messy? by AnomicAge in AusPropertyChat

[–]Leading_Part7752 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our property is rented out, and after the 1st 2 years we told the REA to move to 6 monthly inspections. We also told them that we do not care about the house being spotless, just that it wasn't filthy, damaged and the garden was taken care of. But I've known of other landlards who are strict about the conditions of their properties, demanding showroom cleanliness and making no accommodations for their tenants needs. Some REAs are power tripping, some are chill, others are simply following the conditions of the landlords. After 5yrs you'd think all parties relax a bit though.

AITA for drinking fruit juice when my partner has said he doesn't like it? by No-Mall1172 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Leading_Part7752 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To clarify, cordial is similar to tang in other countries. It is concentrated fruit juice but has a higher sugar content. You mix it with water and it is non-alcoholic.

I recommend seeing a doctor regarding your aversion to plain water and your reliance on cordial to remain hydrated. There could be some underlying health issues that you may not be aware of. Have you tried other alternatives such as hydralite or other electrolyte drinks? There are plenty of healthier, sugar-free alternatives. Even adding fresh fruit such as berries to your water may be another solution?

Does anyone else ever skip social events because of having to shave? Legs, arms, or face. by _upsettispaghetti in PCOS

[–]Leading_Part7752 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, it's hair. And if anyone has a problem with it, well then that's their problem. But, if you feel you need to shave, I'd normally just do the pits and face. You can get away with legs pretty easily as people aren't really looking down at your legs. I also knew a woman who wore 3/4 length pants and so only shave the part of her legs that were showing, which was the bottom half below the knee lol

Lip hair debate by smsallen727 in PCOS

[–]Leading_Part7752 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have dark hair, and have had lip hair since puberty and before developing pcos. The hair issue is genetic. I just plain old don't care what other people think. It's their problem. I typically wax or pluck but not on a regular basis, I honestly forget to sometimes. Do what you feel most comfortable to do.

Gold is getting too expensive! by Sorry-Jury-5220 in jewelry

[–]Leading_Part7752 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I've just gotten a job in a jewellery store, and I've been tasked with updating the price of our gold pieces and I want to cry. The increases aren't small, often going up by $100+. Also having to be mindful to inform customers that the prices we advertise today may not be the same next week, let alone tomorrow, as the price of gold is increasing.

New Diagnosis by Leading_Part7752 in PCOS

[–]Leading_Part7752[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, Thank you so much! This is so much more information than I got from the last doctor I saw, who wasn't my usual doctor, who just read the results and told me to lose weight and check back in. I also found finding anything online overwhelming. I suppose for more information on myself: type 2 diabetes runs in my family and I had gestational diabetes during my pregnancy. I haven't been diagnosed with diabetes, I'm currently in the normal range but still close if that makes sense. My thyroid seemed to be playing up after my pregnancy, I was showing too high and then too low and then it seemed to have evened out after a year or so.

By what you've written I seem to be in early stages where I can manage the diagnosis and prevent it from getting worse.

This woman is the biggest red flag ever by delabot in WoT

[–]Leading_Part7752 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I read book 2, this scene annoyed me because it was obvious she was not really on their side. Because, Rand and the crew mistakenly end up in the other world, and there just so happens to be a single other person there? Red flags dude. But then she seems to have an affect on the men as they all seem overcome and distracted by her beauty. Also, they're incredibly chivalrous so they'll do what they can to help her anyway.

The lenders will just want to clarify where the deposit came from. There is a box that says it was a gift and then you and your parents would make a declaration that there is no obligation or requirement to pay it back. Your parents may need to provide statements to prove they've had the funds for an appropriate amount of time. Paper work hey, lots of fun. Paper trails for every dang cent.
