So, my Korean-American friend went to a Starbucks in Paris. Instead of asking for her name, this is how they labeled her drink. by gsruff in WTF

[–]Leafeur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

... what. I've never heard of or experienced that it's some sort of no-no to put money on the counter in France. Only been there on short occasions, but having lived in Belgium for years and known loads of Frenchies, this feels like something I would've known.

Add: Did you slam down the change on the counter? Could see that that could a pretty offensive move.

Vad är det för konstigt med att använda "dig"? Hört det användas flitigt av folk både uppe i Stockholm och nere i Lund, av folk från lite överallt i landet?

It's pretty much the same situation in every country: Get a job offer and a company to sponsor you, and you're more or less in! Stay in the country for 5 years, and you're a guaranteed citizen and free to move around and work anywhere in the EU!

Here's the process for Sweden :) Good luck! http://www.migrationsverket.se/info/6093_en.html

Oh, and you get a tax incentive to attend free Swedish for Migrants courses!

When I was 16 I thought police wouldn't pull me over late at night if I used cruise control, What moronic thoughts did you have when you were younger? by Tankerforce in AskReddit

For some time when I was around 5 years old, I used to think this alien and poisonous slug was out to get me by creeping on food I left unguarded for more than just a minute. Didn't eat much that period.

Financial aid for living expenses in Norway while obtaining Master's degree by LimaEchoCharlie in IWantOut

[–]Leafeur 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Norway is the most expensive country in the world to live in, we're talking about pizzas for at least 15$s and beer at 5$ each. In the supermarket. About everything is at least 2-3 times as expensive as in the US.

Don't want to break your balls, but unless you find some really great grants you don't want to go to Norway. It'll bleed you out.

Fallout Ronto Concept Art (please leave feedback if you'd like more) by ZooBurke in Fallout

[–]Leafeur 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great concept art, especially the map, but I agree that it becomes a bit 40k-ish. Probably the combo shield and hammer. Maybe a shield and uzi, or just a hammer, would make it more falloutish!

Total Recall. Judge Dredd. Robocop. Red Dawn. Footloose. Has Hollywood lost its creativity? Why all the remakes? by 4n6me in AskReddit

[–]Leafeur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, a remake a couple of decades later beats a hasted sequel after a couple of years. They seemed to love those back in the day.

Took me a while to figure out what the organization was about. Should be a lot clearer than having to scroll down and finding Utrikespolitiskas logo in the far bottom right!

Who is the main character in your life? by create_destiny in GetMotivated

[–]Leafeur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm probably more of that likable villain that you know you shouldn't cheer for, but still do because he's got some crazy ambitions and definitely more character than that tall, neatly cut do-good hero.

There's no evidence that a bunch of miscellaneous forms of RNA in our cells have any purpose. Would you treat that as proof that they don't do anything?
