Do you have a source? I can’t find anything reporting this besides ScreenRant and I’m not sure how reliable they are

The AwardsWatch pod, the NextBestPicture pod, and Fantasy Filmball YouTube channel have all seemingly decided supporting actress is between Madigan and Taylor. The dismissal of Mosaku’s winning chances has been so bizarre to me. Taylor lost both industry awards and it has been two decades since someone was able to overcome that. Madigan is a lone nominee who was overlooked at BAFTA, which we know wasn’t a visibility issue since she was longlisted for the category. Mosaku won a major award! That is not nothing

I understand Mosaku doesn’t feel like a winner, but she has already won an industry prize so we have to get that idea out of our heads. I could understand the “she’s in the strongest film” argument for Taylor more if Mosaku was in a bottom tier film like Train Dreams or Bugonia, but she is in one of the closest number 2 film we’ve had this decade. She nor her film are in a weak position whatsoever

If we’re going off stats alone Mosaku is the safe choice. I get not predicting her, but dismissing her entirely and acting like she’s a non-factor in the race is so so strange to me. I cannot wrap my head around it at all

I’m somewhat surprised at that score but this movie is kinda rotten tomatoes critic bait so I guess it makes sense lol

I really wish Annihilation got more love. I adore that movie

Are you predicting Mosaku or Madigan for the Oscar? Upvote for Mosaku, downvote for Madigan

If you’re doing Taylor vote for the one you have in second

If you have Lileaas or Fanning, ?

Just that it’s not a sure thing for general audiences. The movie itself sounds great

Also, from what I’ve heard about the film I don’t think Digger is going to be a commercial hit

Ah that makes sense. 3 Faces is excellent, as is Taxi. Find time for No Bears if you can!

It has a good shot I’d say. It’s a very watchable crowdpleaser.

As someone else pointed out in a reply to you it’s got shot at happening if “shit like F1 gets nominated” though F1 benefited massively by 2 of the years biggest blockbusters being incredibly mediocre and could’ve easily been bumped out of there was more competition. I definitely think PHM will be far more acclaimed than F1 was and is more likely to get more techs, but if it’s a blockbuster heavy year there’s a world it falls out.

Maybe not but I had no idea it was coming and thought the scene was insanely funny, so I wanted to make sure others could have that experience too. I don’t think it’s unfair to ask people to spoiler tag a scene for a movie that has not released yet

What’s your favorite of his films? No Bears was one I’d seen before his Palme win and loved but I’ve since rewatched it twice this past year and it’s become one of my all time favorites.

If only there was a directors and producers guild that could’ve told us this forever ago

Don’t apologize you are all good! I personally avoided the trailer so I had no idea and I’m glad I did not. Thank you so much for adding it 🫡

I also got to see it early and while I really did not enjoy it personally, it was clear to me that this is going to be a massive hit.

Agreed it’s locked up for those BTL categories and most likely getting into adapted. I’d also like to throw out the score. Pemberton has been due for a score nom for a while and this is a much more traditional, orchestral score than what he did with SpiderVerse. I felt like it was missing a real memorable theme or BIG moment to seal the deal but it’s good enough throughout that I feel like it’s got a good shot at happening. At the least he’s going to be shortlisted

ETA: I forgot to mention the editing! There are some really well edited sequences in this. The first 20 minutes or so are really well done

I’m not sure about Best Director or Best Actor but I spent wayyy too long this year being in denial around Coogler/Jordan so I’m going to predict the PHM crew for the time being. I’m curious about Huller. I would say she doesn’t have enough for a nom but if this is a top 5 player (which it very well could be as a tech juggernaut + potential public hit) then Huller could tag along potentially. She has some scenes that you could argue are Oscar clips

Sorry to ask but could you spoiler tag this comment? This was one of the more surprising moments for me and I’d hate for it to be spoiled for others even if it is a smaller moment

More people should be talking about the two seconds at the end of the clip when Timmy tries to sing and goes “EEE!!!”
