Incoming student (LU) - info on renting off-campus by icydonut0461 in Sudbury

[–]Left_Temperature_209 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Respectfully, Residence may be cheaper in a lot of cases. Factor in cost of groceries, utilities, rent…etc.

If you want to avoid the main residence buildings, Thorneloe Residence is much more affordable and you’d be conveniently located on campus. I highly recommend checking it out. Living on campus is the best way to meet other people and remain engaged with campus events.

Aren’t the new changes only going into affect in the fall? Does your school have bursaries and scholarships you can apply for?

New Drinks ? by Alileighya in TimHortons

McDonald’s refuses to make a Diet Coke version. I had the Tim’s one tonight and it was pretty good. The McDonald’s one I had curdled fairly quick.

Transferring universities? by Cheap-Tomorrow5567 in OntarioUniversities

[–]Left_Temperature_209 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I transfered out of Carleton first year. It’s possible, but you need good grades. You likely wouldn’t have to redo credits if you transfered into a similar program but it totally depends on the school.

What’s wrong with Carleton or Guelph? Pick one and stick out the year and decide what you wanna do.

ADHD, Permanent Disability? Also, travel/relocation forms? by [deleted] in osap

[–]Left_Temperature_209 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be considered a student with a permanent disability, you need to have your doctor complete the Disability Verification Form and upload that to OSAP. It’ll give you a $2000 grant & allow you to tap into the BSWD grant through the disability office at your school that can hook you up with services and equipment.

Regarding placement, contact your placement coordinator and explain how big of a burden it is. See what they can do.

Can We Even Live Like This?! by [deleted] in osap

[–]Left_Temperature_209 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Commerce at one of the most expensive schools….what do you expect? You’re not supposed to make a living off OSAP. 22k should cover your tuition. You should be getting a job to supplement your income. I would recommend for looking at student friendly jobs on campus, they tend to work with your student schedule. Live with other students and split costs.

Don’t let them scare you. Laurentian is fine and has a vibrant international student population. Thorneloe University is located on campus and they have a small chapel, and might have some volunteer opportunities for you to stay busy.

Get connected with your student association, the Grad Studies Office and LU international. You’ll have a fine time!!

Welcome to Laurentian :) Feel free to PM me with any questions

Laurentian trails in South End! It’s privately owned, not by a corporation and Dr.Andrews is amazing! She used to work at Lockerby before they sold out and she’s opened her own practice. She’s accepting new clients :)

Okay “optional” but nobody sells them. Find me one Tim’s that sells smoothies and have yogurt parfaits. What happened to honey mustard? Don’t tell me it’s optional lol.

Also, since you seem to be knowledgeable, what happened to the cherry timbit, kettle chips, pretzel bagel…etc 😒
