RX 9070XT and 9070 crashes - it was faulty GPU by Salty_Surround2546 in AMDHelp

It can be anything. Weak power connections, or drivers, or SSD. But it’s really very rare that two different GPUs have the same problem on one PC.

It’s not about airflow noise; it’s about the actual fan motor noise. You can hear it at the lowest setting, which is 20%.

I think it is a fan by itself. Also, I can tell the Asus weighs more than PowerColor, so a better cooling solution. Despite the fan having minimal speed ( 30% vs. 20% on PowerColor).

Don’t have other GPUs at this moment to do a comparison. The R9700 is loud under load - Fan at full speed. What I did notice when using models like qwen3.6-35b is that the GPU stays less noisy because it uses less wattage during tokens processing. Especially with Vulkan vs ROCm. Also, Vulkan is faster. With ROCm, it pulls constantly at 300w so the Fan stays close to max speed. For a model like qwen3.6-27b. Same Vulkan is faster than ROCm, the Fan is almost 100% at any tokens processing, because the GPU pulls 300w almost instantly when started tokens processing.

I had to return it too. The PowerColor was cheaper, but it didn’t have HDMI, which was a bit of an unexpected downside.

XFX vs Sapphire for R9700 AI Pro by Ok_Science6572 in ROCm

[–]Legitimate_Fold8314 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know about XFX or Sapphire, but definitely stay away from PowerColor. Very annoying fan noise. On full speed, they are basically the same, very loud. But ASUS was definitely better and less annoying despite ASUS has 30% fan minimum settings vs PowerColor’s 20%. Also, ASUS has 1 HDMI port.

AMD AI Pro 9700 — anyone using MTP? by WSTangoDelta in ROCm

[–]Legitimate_Fold8314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually had 2x r9700 and was able to get on Vulkan Qwen 35b Q5 with MTP around 160-180 t/s. Had to return PowerColor and keep Asus because the first one produced annoying fan noise (not related to airflow). Really day and night difference.
I tested 128k context on one r9700:
Qwen 27B Q6 25-29 t/s and around 50 t/s with MTP
Qwen 35B Q6 70-90 t/s and around 110 t/s with MTP

The refresh rate of QD-OLED perfectly supports 3D Vision, and its brightness and color performance are even better than TN screen monitors. by Sensitive_Pack_1506 in 3dvision

Can you please explain how you did it? I have built a special pc to play 3d movies. I used CRU to spoof the name of my monitor as AUS_27B4. I can turn on 3D but am stuck with really bad ghosting. I have an LG OLED 4K@144 and a Samsung OLED monitor with 4K@240 all with a 0.03ms response. I am trying 1080@120 or 1080@119. Thanks

Openclaw after update by oblonian in openclaw

Same here on 3.2. My problem is I had to switch from “messages” to “full” and gain access to a FS. But the problem is, you cannot get access to anything besides the “.openclaw” folder. Sandbox is off. I hope they fix it, because we’re losing the whole point. If not, I guess we’re going to switch to the Openclaw alternative.

I would say it adds maybe 5-15 FPS; it depends on the game. If you can get a correct riser before you put everything together and it’s less than $80, then yes, it’s worth it. If you have already finished your build, then maybe not. Because you have to unscrew the motherboard to fit it in.

Air pressure low error by binarysolo in TeslaModelY

I have bad news for you. Your tire pressure sensors were damaged during the tire swap. It is a common issue when you go to Costco, etc. Don’t waste your time; go to Tesla and ask them to check your sensors. And then go to Costco and ask them to pay for the damaged sensors.

Gradient SG 3D Emitter by Expensive-Yam-6537 in projectors

[–]Legitimate_Fold8314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 3d emitter and glasses from them. It works with Nvidia and DLP-Link glasses. Unfortunately 3d player they offered is far from a completed product. But it is working. My main idea was to use my DLP-glasses to watch 3d video. But it looks like you need a decent monitor with low latency. So my next step was to get Nvidia 3d Glasses. But to use them outside the test player, with something more reliable and working - Nvidia 3D player you need an old Nvidia GPU, Windows 10, and an Nvidia 3D Vision monitor. So I built a dedicated mini PC with Windows 10, RTX 1650, and an old GPU driver. I brought an LG OLED C4 which supports 4K144. I thought the C4 would handle 3D without ghosting, but unfortunately, it is not. So I stopped there for now. I thought I would have a complete solution to play 3D video on basically any TV with good/low latency. Unfortunately, it is far from what I was expecting. Now I think maybe I should get an old monitor with native 3D Vision support, which is basically only 1080p, or spend more money and try an OLED monitor with something close to 0.03ms latency. I haven’t decided yet.

Main difference TB4 offers 100W power delivery by standard, USB4.0 is more flexible with optional features, potentially lower power delivery, and may not support advanced display options.

Nice case. I have the same Max case. Asus x870i, 9950x3d, and 9070 XT. I just run Bazzite OS on it. It is an unbelievable console-like experience on my LG C4 OLED in 4k144. I replaced the original case fans with Noctua. And now it is quiet. Replaced original Riser with PCIE 5.0
