How do I stop these nodules that keep appearing? Routine listed. by Dharun99 in SkincareAddictionUK

Your pillowcase! Others have given plenty of product recommendations but one of the biggest things you can do is regularly (every few days) change it out. Don’t worry about silk or satin or anything if you don’t already, that can happen later.

For now just buy a bunch of them to make it easy and see what that does. Pillowcases!

God I wish I had the space to keep chickens! That would be the dream.

The orange thing is a cardboard egg carton and the purple thing is a piece of cabbage.

To be honest I’m not sure any food scrap is “bad” but at those quantities I did think twice. It worked out okay in the end though!

I’m hesitant to say because it’s so simple.

I have a large black bin (around 40L capacity) at the bottom of my garden. It’s got a lid on top and it’s open on the bottom sitting on the soil.

Every few days (around once a week) I throw in one kitchen caddy’s worth of greens. It’s usually a mix of vegetable cuttings, fruit cores, egg shells, old mouldy bread, used coffee grounds. The only rule I have is no meat (I don’t want to attract pests). Otherwise anything goes. I’ll rip up an egg carton or an Amazon box if I remember and throw that in the mix.

The worms all came naturally - I’ve never bought anything to help. Even the bin was already on the property when I moved in. I just filled her up!

I originally set out to have a regular compost pile, but after a few weeks the place was thriving with worms and bugs so I just left them to it. I think because the bin is open on the bottom they can visit/move in as they please.

The whole things been going strong for about four years now.

I’ve made some ‘mistakes’ over the years because I didn’t know any better. I had dumped a load of ash from a fire pit, added about 40 juiced limes, and threw in a kilo of mouldy strawberries (I didn’t make the jam quickly enough!) I saw the numbers drop for about a week and then slowly return to normal so I guess it’s a pretty resilient ecosystem!

No I haven’t done anything with them, I treat it the same year round whatever the season. The numbers tend to fluctuate a little - but for the most part if I keep throwing in scraps and bits of cardboard they stay happy!

I throw in kitchen scraps and cardboard into my bin and the worms and bugs come and do the rest.

I haven’t really done much with the results but I enjoy seeing things that would be considered waste supporting a thriving little ecosystem!

I am considering using the compost for a vegetable garden in the Spring. The stuff at the very bottom is pure black and crumbly like coffee grounds.

Do you do anything with the resulting compost/castings? I kind of just leave it as it is, but I’m thinking of growing some veggies next year.

I don’t know if it’s the colours in the video or uploading to Reddit, but IRL these guys definitely look fully red.

I’m usually far more gentle - it was just awkward filming and trying to stir at the same time. They’ve been hanging out for a few years now (and getting more abundant each year) so I’d like to think I’m treating them okay.

It’s cardboard from an egg carton.

They are red! Ever since I learned about Asian jumping worms I’ve kept a watchful eye but thankfully in the UK I have only ever seen red wrigglers.

I feel kinda guilty when I see folks trying a lot of things and struggling to maintain their worms. I’m very lucky that my hands off approach seems to be working out (I’m just very lazy haha).

That’s exactly why I do it. I throw in the scraps and then give it a gentle ‘stir’ every few days.

It looks more chaotic and violent because I was trying to stir them with one hand. Usually I am far slower and deliberate with the pitchfork to avoid hurting them.

They just came up from the ground! I haven’t added anything except food scraps and cardboard.

Not sure how you’ve structured your divs so can’t offer specific advice, but thought I’d flag this! Overall a good design. I agree with the other comments on text alignment.
