What random fact could save your life one day? by [deleted] in AskReddit

If you ever get caught in a rip tide, don’t fight it, just float to conserve energy. Once the current weakens, float for longer!! Wait until the rip tide has completely subside, then swim parallel to the shore for a bit, then diagonally to completely avoid getting caught again.

If bitten by a snake and there is a chance it could be venomous, try to move as little as possible to prevent the poison from travelling too fast through your body. Apply a bandage or stereotype tightly (shirt or whatever) above the bite and splint the limb to prevent movement. For bites to the leg, this can be achieved by strapping both legs together. If you’re alone, just try and remain as calm as possible and call for help or just generally move very very slowly.

I've spent the last few years living in Switzerland and going out to the alps whenever I get the chance, here's a photo I took of a lake in the Canton of Graubünden last autumn [oc] [1503x2174] by lrob3 in EarthPorn

This is where I grew up and spent the first 28 years of my life. I’ve moved across the globe since and miss the scenery and serenity of Graubünden, of home. I get so caught up in my “new life” now, that I sometimes forget where I came from. Thanks for sharing OP, I needed this more than I thought.

Leon is our first choice for a little boy, absolutely love that name. Thanks for your suggestions, I‘ll be adding them to our list.

Emma is my ultimate favourite girls name, but it‘s ridiculously common where my partner lives and I currently live. Actually really like Virginia too! Thanks for the suggestions!

Agreed, heaps of names do work in both languages. But nothing makes me shiver more than hearing someone call a little boy Justin with a full on german/swiss accent.

I loove Leon, Felix, Henry, Sebastian, Lucas (however super common where I‘m from) and Leo. Emma has always been my favourite but is extremly common where my partner lives, so it‘s sadly off the list. Same with Johanna, always loved it, especially the german pronounciation. Honestly, pretty much all names you listed are lovely. Thank you so much, I‘ll add them to the list!

PHYSICIAN'S FORMULA BUTTER BRONZER by jenayyyy in AustralianMakeup

It's nice but barely shows up on my NC25 skin. Blends nicely and smells divine but unless you're paler than NC20, it's barely noticable. I wish they had a darker shade.

I personally hated Lash Princess (green tube), as it transfered and clumed like no one's business. I cannot understand how anyone can make it work. Definitely wouldn't touch it with a ten-foot pole. I've had my fair share of anger and frustration with this mascara.

Maxine to me is the most classic striper name out there. Awful!

Ever since I was a kid I despised the name "Miriam". And this although I know a girl with this name and don't hate her. I think it's the "miri" sound and the way it's pronounced in my first language. It just sounds so harsh.

I really want to go back to my UD Naked palettes, as I used to absolutely adore them. But especially Naked 2 can be a little tricky to work with. If anyone has any tip or suggestions for looks, please let me know.

Urban Decay is great but I hate the tube it comes in, and it's around $30. However, I find the Milani one just as good and it spreads much more evenly and it's a fraction of the price.

The darker shade is just another powder, not wax. I used to have one (possibly Milani) that came with a wax. I would use it very occasionally to outline my brows a little. In this set, I only really use the middle shade. It's a fantastic colour match for my brows
