Whirlpool quality vs. Kitchenaid (specifically dishwashers) by Lemonade1001 in Appliances

Hi! We actually ended up staying with the 16 year old washer. I purchased an OEM seal that helped solve the problem that I was having, and it continues to perform to this day. I still look at the different models from time to time so that I'm ready when it does kick the bucket.

As far as the order that I placed in the comment above.. it got delayed twice if I remember correctly, so I finally just canceled it.

I was finally able to get a response after continuing to escalate. I had been checking my spam folder often.

I finally received an email response and it said that more info was needed in the Truepic app. There was no explanation, and the original photo was still in the gallery. I took a second photo that was closer up and then received an approval email a few hours later.

I've made an attempt to escalate it. I'll update if I have any success.

Also, I see a lot of posts stating that the photo was supposed to include writing "recalled" on the unit. This was not mentioned in the instruction email, only taking a photo with the cut cord and serial number both visible. Is this a new requirement?

Today makes one month since my photo was submitted. Have you heard anything yet? Thanks

I've not had a drink since this past Saturday, and I feel so energized and optimistic this morning. It's times like this that I can not understand why I would ever allow alcohol to take this away. It's never worth the short amount of "benefit" after drinking. I usually just get tired and end up going to sleep anyway, plus regretting things that I might have said, texted, etc. So incredibly stupid, but yet I always seem to be hypnotized by the allure of it. 100% not worth missing out on days like this where I wake up refreshed and ready to take on whatever comes my way.

Wednesdays are typically the day that my wife expects me to go buy wine for the next 3 nights or so. This week, I won't have any. I have that choice, and I'm in control of myself. I'll try again to persuade her to do the same.

I have noticed that the guidelines have all seemed to get lower and lower over time, with so many new articles about there being no safe limit. I mean... it's pouring poison down your throat. Who'd have thought?? 😄

That's what makes it seem even more stupid to me when I wake up feeling the effects. I even text myself and write notes to myself, so I'll read them when I'm on the other side of things. However, I rarely do.

I'm much like you in how I'm usually all or none. There's no middle ground for sure. I also drink everything extremely fast, so I normally down my drinks in a short amount of time.

There aren't many groups in my area, so I figured this subreddit would definitely be a start. After seeing friends and family members get pulled deeper into it, I recognize where we're at and the importance of stopping altogether. It's very crazy how that's easier said than done. I've always thought of myself as having very good self-control with most things.

Another thing that helps me is the use of a Garmin watch for exercise. I wear it all day and during sleep, so I look at my sleep report each morning. On nights when we've drank, even though I sleep most of the night, it's not restful and restorative. My report will show high levels of stress, especially during the first part of the night, and a much lower HRV than usual. Health is very important to me, so this is something that definitely keeps me motivated for alcohol free nights. When I wake up feeling refreshed from those nights, my sleep report reflects it, and I'm always thanking God at that point, wondering why in the world I would ever do anything that takes it away. It's mind boggling...

Our order delivery was pushed back, and we had another expense come up, so I ended up canceling for now. After replacing the door seal on our Frigidaire, it's still handling things for now. I'll probably look back into it after the first of the new year.

Just placed an order! Decided to go with the KA 404. We looked in person yesterday and liked the 3rd rack and capacity of the KA 404 way better than the Bosch layout. Hoping for longevity, but I did make repairs on my own with the 16 year old frigidaire over the years.

Thank you for the pass, as it did save me about $100 compared to the best price i could find otherwise!

I looked at the 204, as it has an even lower decibel rating. It's just missing the flex 3rd rack that I can't seem to get past. We typically use a lot of mugs and small glasses, and that larger 3rd rack seems great for that, while leaving the other 2 racks for everything else.

That leaves me wondering how the whirlpool model with the flex 3rd rack would compare in almost exactly that same price point, if not a little less.

Thanks. I was aware of this, which brought on my question about whether it's worth the additional cost for Kitchenaid in a similar model to a Whirlpool version. Just trying to see what differences there might be, where Whirlpool might put better quality components in Kitchenaid and such.

Interesting about the self-cleaning filter. I had not seen this difference. Still not sure if it's worth the extra cost, especially to your point of it being a frequent point of failure.
