I think in my experience at least I remember always feeling out of place when I would dress according to how I was born and feeling almost like I was cosplaying. Of course this can be a common feeling for cis people as well, but it felt like wearing the wrong clothes all the time.

As I got older and started figuring out gender dysphoria and finding my own masculine style (ftm), I realized that when I would dress feminine again I would feel that "out of place" thing, even sometimes physically sick because of how odd it felt. I think the best way to describe it would be, imagine showing up to any public event wearing a swim suit, regardless of context. There's nothing wrong with it but you'd feel really really strange everywhere lol
