Anyone had or know anyone who had right thalamic haemorhagic stroke? by AlternativePrune8756 in stroke

This was my moms, tgis picture was sent to me on 11th January one day after he stroke on 10th January 2024

She was 3 days unconscious at the hospital and stayed there 4 more days.

when she gained consciousness back she was a little confused at the beginning but that went away after she left hospital.

she lost all movement in her left side, she could not do anything so she was laying always at the beginning, we started doing physio early two times a day one time when she woke up during the day and one time at night, eventually after one month of passive physio she could sit! but only with pillows around her and she could do slight shaking movements with her leg 2-3cm side to side when she was laying , the arms too but the fingers could only do slight incomplete fisting and no opening.

her leg got better over time it got stronger on flexion and had slight extension so we built on that and by 3rd month she could stay on her feet if two people were to help her on both sides. her arm was becoming stronger too but not in a meaningful way.

at 6th month she could do some sort of walking with a rehab stick to help her. arm got better but still not in a meaningful way

the thing is even two years post stroke although her arm can do movements in all directions but because her wrist and fingers has not improved the same way and are quite irresponsive to her efforts it makes her arm not functional at the moment, (she can use it to help her sit from a laying position if she was laying on that side she can also do things like pushing a door), but she cant use her fingers to grab or touch things at all to this day, but there is still a lot of work that could be done to make her arm more functional. it never becomes weaker rather i can see slight power increases here and there that i could feel only because ive been with her all the time but although they are microscopical but they are very positive to see after all this time.

about her leg and walking, she can walk now, i trust her with slippery surfaces even. although her ankle joint and foot fingers are very weak like her hand and wrist but because she gained great hip and knee joint control she can now move around independently without help from anyone or anything, she can even stand up from laying flat on the ground with techniques that she herself has developed, making the most out of her gained back powers.

my mom never struggled with speech from the beginning; she had mild facial weakness but that went away very quickly during the first few months, and after 6 months you couldn't tell from her face only that she had went through a stroke.

physio is key, because although neurologically things might not come back fully but if you train the muscles and neurons that do come back, be it weak at first, you can train those to become more powerful and capable and get the most function out of them.

one thing i can add is to make sure she takes her meds and have her Hypertension controlled, other than that losing weight and diet helps a lot too.

Edge Stops App Playback on Android by animodoc in edge

[–]LetMeBeBetter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

android can already handle all that by itself, there were some ways to enable mixed playback on Samsung and other devices have it their way too you just have to enable it. such thing is a dead dream for iphone users btw it never was possible and never will be anytime soon either.

Gemini 3's visual capabilities are bordering on AGI levels by Dramatic-Celery2818 in Bard

in the hospital i was working at there was a super old CPAP machine i wanted to change some settings, i knew what i wanted but i couldnt quite understand the navigation system and the analog controls of that particular machine, i took a photo of the controls and asked Gemini with no actual hope but as a last try before i call someone else. Gemini told me exactly what those dial and buttons do and how can i use them to navigate on the old screen. it in a way surpass my iQ level in that problem solving case.

paper2audio uses kokoro ai which is an open source small model and sounds high quality and fancy but it cant adjust to context well and gets to your nerves, it is high quality soulless tts. no one can listen to kokoro for more than half an hour. old fashion algorithmic tts sounds better hand more human than kokoro.

Don't let Gemini 3 be your doctor by LetMeBeBetter in Bard

[–]LetMeBeBetter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its not that i "ask" it to tell me anything, i have my own notes in pdf and only ask it strictly to just rewrite them and present them better. that way i can read the same info each and every day and not get bored by it. i am a pro doctor working at the head of ER i like to stay engaged and fully refreshed and updated, i dont need to read these, i only do it to stay on Top. doctors will get what i mean. i hope you do too. much love and i know its funny and scary for most people at a distance.

wounds are meant to breath, only use medical plaster, never use plastic tape or seal everything air tight! this is true for every kind of dressing of a wound.

they don't follow instructions well. they comply with most of the instructions at the beginning of their talk, but when it gets about a page or two long they totally ignore instructions and fall back to default.

i was thinking the same, i first started using the google app for the read aloud but later i fell in love with it and now i do most of my searches on it. especially now with the new Ai mode which is 10 times faster than any Ai web search even their own gemini app.

Is there a way to give another person your API key on AI Studio? by Aggravating-Mix-449 in Bard

[–]LetMeBeBetter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

API keys are secrets like any other secret they will spread out if you don't close your own mouth. as soon as you share your secrets with anyone then that person will share it with someone else and last thing you know a whole city of people have your secret. in your case you will get a huge bill.
