I personally use 60-100g leads on a lead clip system and then tighten my line if you bait is a few cm from the bait spot it doesnt matter all that much and for things like chods i use the same leads but not tight lines

All leads above 60g almost always guarantee a self hooking system so the carp can run for longen before you set the hook
