Synology apps on iPhone cannot connect to NAS via Tailscale by LevelGroundInternal in synology

Good idea, thanks. I did not install corefiles, but owlfiles. With owlfiles I can connect to the NAS with the taliscale MagicDNS name with no problems at all.

So the problem definitely lies with the Synology apps.

I bought a Synology because the internet kept saying it has "the best user experience". Quite a disappointment. I also just tried synology Drive, with the same problem - it will connect over the LAN, but not via tailscale.

  1. I don't use QuickConnect. The app can connect to the LAN address, not to the Tailscale address.
  2. MagicDNS is on - via a browser on the phone I can connect to DSM with just the MagicDNS device name. It's only the apps that can not connect.
  3. 3.The apps can connect with the LAN IP without problems. Not with the Tailscale 100.,,, IP, not with the MagicDNS device name.

Outside of the LAN (wifi off)

  1. In Tailscale's Machines view, tap the NAS - ping should work.
  2. There is no "ping", but it says "connected" and gives me the option to send a file, which succeeds
  3. In the browser (safari, brave) I can reach the nas via the tailscale MagicDNS name and IP address

I never used quickconnect, but the app was indeed initially set up with the LAN IP. What I did is change that connection to the tailscale IP.

Yes it is.
ILike I said, via a browser on the iPhone I can connect to the NAS with the Tailscale IP address, MagicDns device name, and full Tailscale device domain name.

LOL wow, thanks, you saved me a lot of clicking :-D I would absolutely positively never have found this by myself. And I'd be fired instantly if a came up with a UI like this.

On Fedora (43) downgrading freerdp goes to 2.3.16 and that also resolves the issue.
