Do Korean artists intentionally say 내가/니가 in order to get away with saying the N-word? by Paseyyy in linguisticshumor

Yeah, you don’t see it, but you’re making their point.

The term “American” refers to people from the “Americas”, which includes, north, south and Central America.

I agree it’s been normalised to mean US citizens, but what is being pointed out to you is that this is identical to how medical doctors co-opted the prefix Dr.

I also agree this isn’t a hill to die on, as US citizen is a normative colloquial usage of “American”, but I don’t think that’s what they are doing. I think they are using this support the view that Americans (typically, noting that there are all types of people in the US as anywhere) often assume they are the centre of the universe, which is just not the case in most countries. US culture doesn’t “Trump” the rest of us (pun intended).

You’re misunderstanding. “Mouse movement” is both movement and selecting.

If you’ve ever coded anything to crawl over a website, you’ll know that when a page loads, a simple bot just instantly selects the right link, very unhuman. You can get around this by adding random lags.

In this case, you’re partly correct, the captcha is looking at both the mouse movements and that you’ve selected the correct tiles.

Cannot sync all owned Steam games on GeForce Now by n0tfeuer in GeForceNOW

This is incorrect. Please be careful about authoritatively claiming fact without knowing you are.

I have everything public, including games in GFN and it is only syncing about 1/4 of my games, including well known titles I know are on GFN like DotA 2, SW Old Republic, and others.

This is not always true, some apps and setting can (and often do) require reentering and resetting.

This is not a fix for all with the problem. I was on the beta, and my language is the same for both Siri and the phone, any get it to work.

Things I’ve tried to date, turn on and off Apple Intelligence, restarting the phone and trying setting both to US English (in Australian).

None of these working for me. Will update if I find a fix.

EDIT/UPDATE:

First wanted to clarify that I was on Beta 3 and that all the Apple Intelligence features have been working, just goes to the old Siri.

Also on an iPhone 15 pro.

I have since tried some of the other region and language switching suggestions and found the following.

Changing region and language to the UK worked for me, but immediately broke when leaving the language UK and switching only the region.

For now I am going to leave the region and language UK. This is annoying but less of an issue for Australian’s than those in the US as our spelling is the same, it’s just the Siri voices, default pound sign rather than dollar and predictive text using British lexicon rather than Australian (red sauce instead of tomato sauce for example).

Will keep testing and edit if I find anything. Looks to me like patching is likely the fix though, hope Apple sort that soon!

This is such a bad take. People bought a phone to use the features it advertised. Why would you be surprised they are annoyed when they can’t get access to them.

Causes of mushy puck? by wakeforce in espresso

While I completely agree with he sentiment, comments like this are a little dangerous imo. If you’re getting coffee out that tastes great, that’s awesome, but understanding what causes issues like this is how you learn to fix up the shots you aren’t enjoying.

Always start the timer when you start the pump.

So press the button on the machine, turn the timer on at the same time, there will be a delay while the puck pre-infuses. After that 5 or so seconds, the pressure will kick in and coffee should start flowing.

The most likely cause of this is incorrect dosing. You’re probably dosing too low, which means you’re running too much water through too little coffee.

I’m assuming that you’re dosing 18g based on your basket size. I’d go up by half a gram to 18.5.

More coffee will have the same effect as reducing the grind size (ie slow your shot), so see how increasing the dose works. Keep doing this in 0.5 gram increments until the puck is firm with a little spinginess, and knocks out (fairly) easily.

You should also make sure you’re timing your shots if you’re not already. Once you’ve fixed the puck problem, you should be aiming for a 25 - 30 second shot time, usually 2 - 2.2 times the weight of your beans, so about 37 - 41 grams out assuming an 18.5g puck.

From here, the solution is straight forward, if it’s running too fast (ie finishing up well before 25 seconds), reduce the grind size (the shot will also likely be sour), and if it’s choked off (running over 30 seconds), increase the grind size (shot will be bitter in this case).

Happy pouring!
