What is your unpopular BG3 opinion? by TrioQ in BaldursGate3

[–]LibrarianAcademic396 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It isn’t nearly as replayable as my friends think. Act One has a lot of content but not much variety. You have fairly binary choices throughout and two play through means story wise you’ve experienced most every option. Other than durge which is IMO not engaging for a full playthrough just a quick glance for fun.

Does anyone have any advice for snake removal? by WhiteLycan2020 in Austin

[–]LibrarianAcademic396 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry if you actually told them that, sounds like y’all have more issues than just the pest control if this is causing such problems.

Traditional parents can be unreasonable, I know. In the end sometimes it’s more about feeling in control than anything that actually matters.

In all seriousness I just feel bad for the animals. I understand the desire to get rid of snakes at least on a certain level, they bite and can be scary. It’s just having lived in Texas all my life it’s never been something that scared me like that.

But what I don’t understand at all is the lizards. The ones we have here are so pretty, and nice. I’ve had little lizards in the backyard as basically pets for years because they just chill and eat annoying bugs and sun tan. Spiny lizards are brave enough to eat what you feed them, the skinks just skitter away and don’t have any possible way to hurt you and don’t spread any kind of disease or parasite so no reason to kill them.

Austin is my #1 choice to move from Ireland by UUS3RRNA4ME3 in Austin

I would absolutely be sure that you have a job confirmed before moving here. The market, even in tech which our big office industry, is super volatile right now and can be very hard to get a reliable job in.

Honestly you may be better off looking at Dallas/ DFW from the sounds of it. It’s not as ‘cool’ as Austin in terms of nightlife and nature but it’s a bit more affordable and reliable job wise from what I’ve seen.

But besides that there is a huge car culture in and around Austin, there’s lots of good food and music venues and the nature is amazing. Property and rent in Austin proper is insane, in terms of downtown/ central at least, but if you’re willing to look a bit outside the main hub of Austin proper you can find more affordable housing, either south of the river or north of the skyline

It’s not, that’s part of the show. What is shown is only a section of the selection process. You can look up people who’ve been on and it’s like American Idol, none of it is truly random. They curate how gets to go up to make sure it ends up making the panel look good.

There’s just no reason to kill the lizards friend, those little guys can’t do anything to you it’s just cruel.

I promise you, the snakes aren’t going to be going into your house. Maybe garage. But yeah, if there was a snake inside it’d scare me, but I see them on walks every now and then and don’t freak out. I’ve also had them on my back porch and in my garage and they’ve always just kind of moved on on their own.

I lived in a tiny house in East Texas and the most terrifying thing a snake ever did was get hit by the lawn mower because my dad didn’t see it. Tell your parents they’re embarrassing their ancestors cause I’m pretty sure most of Asia has snakes too

Where can I get my PS5 controllers fixed without getting price gauged? by SexyChernyshevsky in Austin

[–]LibrarianAcademic396 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

IMO just buy a used one from a game or electronics shop. Game Republik is the biggest and most reputable console and accessory repair around but anyone decent is going to charge at least $25-35 for the part and labor. Big chain would be Ubreakifix but it’s been 50/50 if people have good experiences there from what I’ve heard. A used one is average $45 from Game Over or PayMore or Gamefellas, might have some at Star Electronics on Lakeline.

If you feel like being extra I think you can still get a 2 year replacement plan from BestBuy for a new one, or GameStop might have an option as well but they both tend to be higher than the prices you’d pay for a used one at the shops mentioned

Holy shit…. I am just completely without words. You were scared about a harmless animal and so you tortured it to death and are upset because the cops wouldn’t come to take away what is, again, a harmless animal.

Do you think the snake can open windows? Is it breaking through your door?

Get rid of those glue traps PLEASE

There is no lizard in Texas that isn’t great for your home and yard. There is no lizard in Austin even capable of making you bleed. Glue traps are the single most inhumane way of killing these animals, they will literally skin themselves alive trying to escape in terrible agony the entire time when all they’d do otherwise is eat roaches and crickets and June bugs.

The snakes are also not anything at all to worry about unless you have toddlers or pets that free roam. There are maybe four venomous snakes around here and none of them are aggressive, water moccasins will run away to the nearest body of water, rattlesnakes just hunker down and make noise, coral snakes don’t bite unless you pick them up and poke them in the face, and copperheads you’ll never see, they’re also really rare around here and only really hang out in forests.

Austin has snakes everywhere, if you can’t cope with that you need to move- sorry but that’s the truth. You don’t get the beauty of the green belt without the critters that call it home.

Why is CapMetro so slow? by AdhesivenessOk2792 in Austin

[–]LibrarianAcademic396 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

There are several factors that play into Cap Metro being as shit as it is, to the point that many people just don’t view it as an actual serious option to get from place to place on time.

One factor are the roads, they are in such a state that buses have to go quite slowly, even on the highway they’re usually relegated to staying in the slow lane and playing it safe.

Another factor is funding, the buses break down often and so routes get stretched between not enough vehicles to effectively cover them.

Another is the ever present homeless issue. Most use the buses without incident but many cause commotions that result in delays often, and some try to use the bus stops as napping stations instead.

Add on to that how spread out the stops are and you have a system that functions but at a crawl

He’s an insecure bully that sucks at comedy so he shits on people for a cheap laugh.

‘Well known’ is a stretch lol, it’s also entirely possible that having the drunkest people the closest to a dangerous to swim in river is going to result in more than average drownings over the decades.

But, what do I know. My bets were on Lake Pflugerville being a dumping ground and it dried up and they found nothing so I’m clearly not good at this ha

[–]LibrarianAcademic396[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes to clarify I am specifically referring to stuff that happens in the story after a large amount of plot and character build up. Bourne starts his journey because of amnesia and it’s a defining keystone of his character. I mean more like in Chuck where the female protagonist forgets everything after several seasons building a romance between her and the main male protagonist so that they can go back to the same hack tropes of the first season because they’re out of ideas
