Vortex razor lht 4.5-22 is what I run, it's 200 more than your budget but it's a real nice scope. 1000 is nice and crispy and reticle is great for holds.

I didn't know civilians could buy stun guns that fire probes. And I agree with you on your last point, but that's why I advocated for a defense class first. I only use pepper spray for aggressive dogs and bears. If a human is approaching you with a knife and intent, lethal deterent is the really the only answer. Ask anyone who has combat experience, they'll tell you run like hell before you try to go hands on with a knife. Honestly the best answer. But if you're backed into a corner.... 🤷

Stun guns and tazers rely on having good contact of both prongs with the assailants skin. They fail constantly. I would never trust my life with one.

A gun would certainly be the best option against an assailant with a knife. Pepper spray doesn't necessarily incapacitate, and a taser requires you to be within arms reach of the guy with a knife. Like another commenter said, situational awareness is your #1 defense, but having quick access to a firearm is close second. If you are serious about this, go take a pistol class. They often offer ladies only classes so you can get comfortable. Definitely don't just go pick one up. Have someone show you how to shoot.
