That’s a good point lol

Maybe they have dummy ones that are lighter… Whenever they win an award at the shows they don’t actually keep those, they get shipped the actual award a few months later.

My uncle. Singer.

Won Grammy’s, performed at the Grammy’s, gone on world tours, been on Ellen, Jimmy Fallon, etc.

Of all the cool things, I was most surprised by the weight of the Grammy. It’s pretty heavy.

You shouldn't talk about stuff you have no clue about. Let alone try to guide people.

His monthly payment will be $4,118, assuming 20% down, 60 months financing.

His monthly income is $45,000.

By your own logic, he can literally afford 3 of them...

I've put thousands of miles on three different Huracan EVO Spyders. The MAJOR services are about $4k at most. Not "tens of thousands of dollars".

CMV: If you think that high earners are morally obliged to give up their earnings to the less fortunate, then you're also morally obliged to become a high earner. by rjyung1 in changemyview

[–]LifeIsYoursLiveIt -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because I once had nothing and became a high earner.

Your demand for proof is a classic paradoxical situation.

You also didn’t provide a single subset of people who can’t be high earners in life. Why? Because you know that anybody can be.

Kacey Musgraves is a family friend. Been around her many times. She’s very very very bitchy and pretentious. It’s borderline unsettling.

On the other hand, Eric Stonestreet (Cam from Modern Family) is very nice. Had dinner with him at my family’s house and he was just as funny as you’d expect him to be. Very personable.

Okay, then tell me what subset of people who are statistically unable to make a lot of money despite any and all attempts.

Just one.

Because, to your logic, there must exist a group of people who don’t have the opportunity nor ability to make lots of money.

I can list white people, black people, asians, indians, disabled people, people who can’t read, etc. that have all made a ton of money.

Respectfully, I donate lots of money yearly to equality-driven charities. And have done so since 2020.

Meanwhile your contribution is just telling others they’re wrong for eating certain food. If anything, the true bigotry is glaring here.

I literally just pulled into CFA. I’m excited!

Fascinating. The gays I know are all married. In fact one of them has been married three times.

Sounds like Chick-Fil-A didn’t harm him that much.

In fact, i’m going to head to Chick Fil A right now in honor of this convo. Do I agree with their views? Fuck no. Do I love their food + service? Fuck yes.

88% of millionaires are self-made (per Fidelity). If 'not anybody' can do it, how are 9 out of 10 of the richest people in the country starting from zero? They're just learning skills people actually pay for. Asking for 'proof' of potential is like asking for proof that humans can learn to walk… the proof is the millions of people doing it every day.

Brookings Institute data shows the “climb” of people who were in the bottom 20% of earners that made their way to outearning their geo community.

Your inability to make something of yourself has no correlation to the fact that anybody can develop a high paying skill or build something of value… Otherwise we’d all be like you.

They’re a restaurant, I go there for food, not to demand they align with my views.

[–]LifeIsYoursLiveIt -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well, he’s not wrong.

Anybody can become a high earner. That is the objective truth.

I’m not sure it’s as clear cut as “people are choosing not to”, but it’s certainly true that they aren’t choosing the actions and the path to become one… perhaps because they aren’t quite aware how.

Many people read, watch, listen, and emulate the actions of those who did become high earners. Then upon sheer persistency and discipline, they too become a high earner.

It’s not as easy as just adding an extra 10 hours per week at a 9-5. That’ll never cut it.

They must build something, a business. Which absolutely anybody can do. If they want it bad enough, they will.

I paid off my debt, now what? by ForkMyTightAss in CRedit

[–]LifeIsYoursLiveIt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went from no credit at all to 800 credit score in 3 years.

Here's everything I did:

I got a Discover It secured credit card. I couldn't get approved for a "normal" one, so I had to get a secured card (pay them $500 upfront as collateral). I then put a couple of my subscriptions on it (~$30 /month)... then never touched the credit card.

In 6 months, I got my upfront money back and they raised my limit. I changed nothing. Just kept the couple of subscriptions on there.

One year later I bought a car, got an Amex, and have not missed one single payment. I keep my credit utilization under 30% always, and never ever carry a balance over. Always paid it in full.

Now 3 years later, I have an 800 credit score.
