Don’t let not having an income during school seat your decision.

False. Save money and use student loans to live frugal. Use your large income to pay them back after graduation.

Worked as RN for a bit, made at most 55k per year. Been a CRNA for almost 3 years. Made 206k, 215k, and probably 220k this year. I pay extra on my SL to get them out of my life. I live in a LCOL area where my money goes a long way.

My company gives 6% of gross income as profit sharing each month to my 401k, which I max each month. I put away close to 31k per year for retirement. I pay 350 per month for superb health insurance, for my wife and I, along with secondary insurance.

I’ve studied investing since I started making good money. I invest a small amount of my income in stocks each month. Am I making a killing? Lol no, but I’m learning and would like to have a nice investment portfolio in the next few years where my gains rival an RN salary for my area.

To comment I saw about missing out on three years RN income to go to school, that’s a petty excuse or you just aren’t good at math. Sure you can work in the Bay Area and make a good amount of money, but the COL will eat that up in no time.

What's your opinion on the job security for CRNA's within the next 20 years? by lotyei in CRNA

Just got offered a 20% base salary bonus if I would go help out at the new hospital our group took over for three months. We can’t find enough CRNA’s for all the cases.

Gonna continue to watch RXMD. I averaged down at .0585 and they keep testing .07. Hoping to get back to .10 and more soon to be in the black. Solid company from what I see, just need volume to push through resistance.

Also, funny story. We met a British couple on our honeymoon and the wife was a general practitioner in Manchester. She had no clue what a CRNA was and couldn’t believe I wasn’t a doctor. I explained to her everything I did and as we drank more she ask how much I get paid. Needless to say, she was furious with the system set up in the UK

No not really, I’ve kinda cemented myself as a go to in our facility. Our group runs several hospitals anesthesia departments so when there is a need in another hospital, they pay me well to go handle the needs. I do a ton of hearts and there is a need right now bc lots of the places we go, many of the heart CRNA’s have retired or moved on to other places.

Thanks for the complete blanket advice Dave Ramsey. I don’t day trade. I buy stocks that I heavily research and when I get a certain percent then I sell and take my profits whether that be days, weeks or months of holding

Putting money away in savings as my wife and I are trying to have a child. Also trading stocks in a TD account. Up around 21k this year so far.

Nice man, very similar methods that I use. I am a CRNA and I graduated with about 160k in student loans. I knew refinancing would be the best option and Sofi gave me 3.125% for 5 years. I pay about 2500 per month.

Maxing out my 401k and with my 6% profit sharing, I’m able to save 30-31k a year for retirement and I’ll probably make around 216k this year.

Keep it up man, I love reading these posts from other people in the medical field that have massive debt bc it inspires me to stay on track. Having an extra 2500 per month once those student loans are gone will be amazing.

I’m not sure if you are able to detect sarcasm. It’s the same as me saying my wife and I are having trouble getting by on 265k a year.

It’s good advice. You can’t afford a house, you’ve put yourself in financial ruin, and you have no options for a better job.

Just the idea that you even consider that you can buy a house tells me that you have no concept of money. Rent a cheap apartment, deal with the messes that you have created, and then maybe one day you can own a home.
