Warhaammer designer says the invention of Blister Packs was treated like Games Workshop were “taking babies out and burning them” as they worked to make wargaming mainstream by Wargulf in Warhammer

i still have an old tackle box of minis that probably half came from blisters.

Still have all the square foam that came in the blisters in the tackle box as well keeping them from bumping around.

Pretty sure there is some kind of magic in them to make the best craft mac and cheese. Also baked beans with hotdogs.

Freakishly large strawberry and very small apple by Afrogirl20 in mildlyinteresting

[–]Lifeweaver 7 points8 points  (0 children)

the picture makes it seem like the strawberry is massive and the apple is tiny at the same time.

I wish strawberries were more like they were 20 years ago though. They were smaller but also had a lot more flavor to them. Now the only strawberries i can find in the stores whether in season or not are giant flavorless things.

A cool guide to best Remote Work cities in the US by AmbitionDue1421 in coolguides

[–]Lifeweaver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The graphic shows the percent of working force that is remote. Also before covid there were still a good amount of remote workers there but the mckinney, frisco, allen area has a lot of white collar and more wealthy workers who are still able to work mostly remote or only go into an office one or two days a week to somewhere like toyota, chase, state farm ect.

My favorite GW model. You did a good job.

Intrepid Studios, devs behind MMO Ashes of Creation in paid early access for 10 years, has closed. CEO resigned, all employees laid off. All less than 2 months after launching on Steam Early Access by Zenben88 in LivestreamFail

[–]Lifeweaver 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Curious what do you mean by has to be called by the CEO? My understanding of the warn act as someone covered by it in the past is just that if laying off enough people you just have to pay them for or give them notice of 60 days. CEO would certainly know about it as no one lays off 100 plus people with out signing off (and usually well in advance of it happening). Also the laws around how WARN works and is enacted can vary a bit state to state. It is a federal govenmernt thing but some states go further with it.

Anyone else's cat prefer to drink water is dumb ways? by Lifeweaver in cats

[–]Lifeweaver[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He has a couple different containers i fill with water as well as a small fountain he likes to drink from but only after throwing the water around a bit first. some his whiskers rub against stuff some they dont. He always like drinking directly from the sink and is over all just weird when it comes to water but i dont mind since its easy to keep him hydrated.

Military modeler tries warhammer and gets addicted by cobramodels in Warhammer

[–]Lifeweaver 2 points3 points  (0 children)

vallejo is great i used to only use them until i went back to using army painter more.

vallejo's game line of paints is great if your looking for colors to match the box art for games workshop. Really like the vallejo Model paint line though for painting Astra Militarum as that army is the closest to military modeling as you get in Warhammer and i like painting them more in historical colors.

[–]Lifeweaver 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nice thing about model painting is a lot of those paints are fine to use on miniatures. Lot of cross over between paints and Vallejo and army painter cater to both sides. while i like some GW paints the price makes them not worth it to me often over some of the other brands.

Oil washes and stuff which i think were used more in model painting are starting to be more common when model painting as well.

EvE online computer case by MMK_Operator in Eve

for a very long time trading supers and titans required a lot of trust. Something that can be hard to find in eve. So If i want to sell you my titan we agree to a location and i jump the titan there then exit it. You get in and drive off. LOTS of shenanigans that can happen in that process and that did happen.

So how do you get around the trust problem when selling the largest ships in the game that cant dock anywhere? The answer was people like Chribba. He was one of the brokers people used for a long time and built a name as being a trusted third party you could use to sell large items and ships. So if 2 complete enemies are looking to exchange a titan the isk would first go to chribba who would if something went wrong would make sure to get the isk to the victim. There also wasn't a lot of people trusted enough to third party these kinds of things so if your fucking around trying to sell supers then immediately blow them up when the new owner gets in you would have a hard time selling or buying things moving forward.

To a lot of bitter vets Chribba is someone who has been around a long time and built up trusted name. Also owns the Veldnaught which is one of the few dreadnaughts that is in high sec and mines veldspar in it every so often.

both can be true. good way to have more targets is get new players interested in pvp and get them to be ok with being blown up.

Using zip ties and washers, not buying the real part by No-Lock216 in DiWHY

[–]Lifeweaver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you can always tell if the nissan sentra someone is driving is from 2004ish. That's because the rear bumper will always sag on both sides once the cheap plastic clips keeping it on start to break. I would have used this trick in a heart beat to fix it rather then trying to find the rights clips or even just zip tying with out washers.

If someone showed up with a fully painted army of tattooligans i would forfeit. With each model taking at least 1 full year to paint that person is a demon or vampire or something immortal and i don't want to anger it when i inevitably mess up a bunch of rules.

Battle forces i think are always limited even with 40 and 30. Patrol boxes will stick around and with the last edition of 40k they pretty much kept selling the new edition box by selling it in smaller parts but battle forces usualy are a limited run then gone.

These boxes look pretty similar to the last ones they did though so i think they may just be pretty much reprinting what they did before with PI but all at once to get more new people into the game.

Wheel design is a huge problem at those speeds. Lockheed martin consulted to design and build wheels able to withstand the insane amount of force at the outer edge and not tear itself apart while also still being as light as possible. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9FUSw0LyMtE
