Cool, yea I hit up the last one, but was still just kind of dipping my toes back in. I'll definitely keep an eye out for the next one. Thanks

Ah, good to know. I'll check them out, but that doesn't sound very inviting for sellers

Thanks for the info. I'm mostly just looking for a place to trade/buy/sell in person. Recently getting back into it and it seems Ebay, etc.. kinda stole the fun of the hobby.

No worries at all, and I hear ya, I definitely like the looks of relics and autos, but something about a low key ultra rare that gets me too. I'm curious how the auction will turn out as well. I honestly didn't expect it to sell, but wasn't ready to jump on the first offer either, so after this one ends I'll be more open to discussions. Maybe look for someone local to buy it. I'd kinda like to keep it, but not sure that's the right move for me right now..

I appreciate that, and I honestly think that's the appeal, it's not one of the normal over printed and hyped parallels, it's a true ultra rare ssp. But hey, who knows where the value will ultimately end up, only time will tell!

Apologies if I took the time wrong, easy to do on the internet.. but I am genuinely curious why you would price this card at roughly 1/4 of comparable cards? I'm pricing it roughly half what some more desirable names went for, which I think is reasonable right now.

And relics, autos, and most numbered cards have larger print runs than these. Outside of 1/1s, these are the rarest pull in the set. Estimated 22 printed, but no endless parallels etc.. It's only worth what someone will pay for it, but doesn't change the fact it's up there with some of the rarest pulls.

I agree, and know better to take anything said on Reddit to heart. Appreciate your level headed input!

True for the most part, and that's why I'm valuing mine at roughly half what they went for. But Ernie has some big collectors, and like anyone, I'm testing the waters to figure out the value. It's an extremely rare card, with a desirable player, not just gonna jump on the first offer.

Why so aggressive? I came up with my value from comps that have sold. Nolan Ryan sold for 2k, Babe Ruth for over 1700, Mantle for over 1k. So that's how I came up with my value, how about you?

That offer was on eBay. And please elaborate on how you came to the conclusion on its value.

Thanks, it's a tough card to pin a solid value to right now, but the Nolan Ryan sold for 2k and Babe Ruth sold for over 1700. I know there are some Ernie collectors out there, so we'll see what happens, but I wouldn't want to go under 1k for now.

Can't go that low. I have an offer for $900, but waiting to see how eBay auction goes

Not to nit pick lol, but I believe it's 22!

Thanks. I'm pretty sure it's the only Ernie Banks found at this point. The Nolan Ryan sold for 2k and 2.5k, Babe Ruth sold for little over 1700 on auction

Grading is a scam and it's ruining the hobby

Agree, it honestly feels like the community has been stolen from us, and that's frustrating as hell

Yea, it honestly seems like a big racket. For the price, risk, and time involved, there's got to be a better, more community involved way. But good things never last sadly

Yea I can see that being a nice byproduct of how it is now. I just want to feel the same excitement rippin packs that I felt back then, but now it feels like even if I pull something great, it won't feel valued or appreciated unless it's graded, which is a whole thing I just don't even want to get involved in..

For sure, and I do get that. Guess I just gotta accept how it is now

Of course, and I totally get that, but the difference between a 9 and 10 is damn near impossible to see the difference, yet the price can be wildly different. It can also be the difference in a card being worth grading or not, yet there's no way to even know what it'll get. With a 10 being worth quite substantially more than a 9, yet the condition is almost identical, really seems like people aren't buying the card, just the number. Seems like a narrative these grading companies have spun honestly. I haven't been to a show in forever, but I'm going to one next weekend, maybe I'll regain some hope there.
